NEW SOUTH WALES
1851-55 Laureates Imperf 8d orange-yellow SG 80 block of 4 - the second unit with No Lines in Spandrels - with margins just shaved (at right) to good, the left-hand units comprising a quite exceptional pair, BN '9' (Reversed Numeral) of Bathurst, Cat £2650++. The only recorded used block of the 8d Laureate. Ex Caspary & "Manwood" (where it was described as having "two small closed tears & a light crease", now not apparent due to expert renovation]
NEW SOUTH WALES - Postal History
1852 part-entire to London with excellent franking of Sydney Views Plate II 1d dull carmine SG 8 & Laureates Plate II 2d chalky blue x2 (one with minor corner fault) all with full margins tied by BN '68' of 'SCONE' (light oval b/s), 'PAID SHIP LETTER/SYDNEY' cds in red on the face. Ex Wiggins & "Manwood" (1995: realised $US2300).
1853 small cover to Scotland with excellent franking of Imperf Laureates 1d (3 margins, abrasion at lower-left) & 2d grey-blue pair (margins at places) tied by BN '11' (Nibbs rated RRR) of 'CANOWINDRA' (large-part oval b/s) & bars cancel of Sydney (b/s).
1857 large-part outer to "Co Westmeath/Ireland" with extraordinary franking of Imperf Diadems 8d golden yellow SG 97 x4 (three with four margins, the last with three margins, the first unit with minor abrasion at upper-right) tied by good to fine strikes of BN '23' of Wollongong, Sydney & London transit b/s & 'MULLINGAR' arrival cds on the face. Wow! Now for the bad news: the upper-left portion of the cover - presumably with other stamps - has been excised. Still, when folded as shown here, it presents as being only slightly reduced at left and otherwise of fine appearance. Ex Consul Weinberger & "Manwood" (1995; realised $US4675]

Numerals on NSW Imperfs comprising BN '87' on Laureate 2d & Diadem 2d, BN '95' on Laureate 2d Plates I & III, Rays '87' on Diadem 1d, & Rays '95' on Diadem 1/-, mostly with full margins; also Rays '85' on 1/- carmine with perfs trimmed-off. (7)

Barred Numerals '661' (rated RRRR) of Invicta good strike on 2d pair; '664' (RRR) of Kolan South superb strike on 1d pair & a possible '666' (RRRR) possibly of Ruby Vale large-part strike on 1d pair. A rare trio. (3 items)
1856-57 No Watermark Pelure Paper 1d deep red-brown SG 24, margins close to large, manuscript "46" cancel of new Town, Cat £650.

1863 small cover to Hobart (cds in red on face) with Imperf 4d (faults) tied by bold BN '81' & postmaster's manuscript "Sorell/29.10.63" at left.
1873 & 1874 covers to "Cambria/Swansea" with Sideface 2d tied by BN '109' (one poor) & with postmaster's endorsement "Lisdillon/[date]", the address incorporated into attractive pen & ink drawings of a weary traveller & girls in a rowboat, minor blemishes. (2)

1850-57 Half Lengths Campbell & Fergusson 1d pink SG 28 horizontal strip of 4, margins clear to large, a couple of faults, bold BN '1' cancels of Melbourne, Cat £152++.

1859 cover to Adelaide (arrival cds on the face) with fine Shilling Octagonal Perf 12 tied by bold BN '1' of Melbourne (b/s), all-over soiling. Scarce inter-Colonial usage.
