1952 KGVI medallion-style die proof of the King's Head only in black on thin but highly surfaced paper (86x92mm) with the die number 'N2836' impressed in reverse at upper-left. Superb! Very similar to the portrait approved for the last of the KGVI Definitives, the only significant difference being the shape of the base of the neck. The circular background strongly hints at this being intended for the 1/0½d value. Ex Sir Gawaine Baillie. [Found in the effects of the stamp designer Frank Manley]

An exceptional QEII proof and a "must have" for the Coronation or Omnibus collector. Ex Sir Gawaine Baillie. [ACSC states that 8 such proofs were prepared, of which one each is in the Royal Collection and the Australia Post Archives. The recipient of this proof was Director-General Chippendall of the Postmaster-General Department]
