Premier/Prestige Philately: "International Rarities Auctions" sales #101 (25/1/2003), #115 (14/4/2005) & #121 (22/4/2006), a few blemishes. A fabulous array of the best-of-the-best of Australian philately, if we do say so ourselves. [Over 100 copies of this year's catalogue were damaged in transit & had to be replaced. This exhausted our stock & it is now virtually unobtainable] (Qty 3)

Premier/Prestige Philately: "(First) International Rarities Auction" (25/1/2003), the hardbound edition of which only 200 were produced, this being #49 of only 50 that were inscribed to vendors & other major clients. Ex Gordon Rodger who has lovingly covered the book to protect it. Thank you for the respect shown Gordon.

Also Railway, Post & Telegraph maps of Victoria and Queensland - these are very large and much sought after - and four other maps. The facing page with a few repaired tears but the contents are very fine. Individual maps have often sold for between $100 and $200 each. O

Western Australia with a reasonable Penny Black, 1860 Imperf 6d green on piece (of exceptional appearance but we have been unable to examine it from the back, but it's a forgery!!), other useful Swans, QV 2/- to 10/- (CTO) etc. [** The Imperf 6d is unfortunately a very presentable forgery. We have reduced the estimate from $400 **]. (Qty 66)

*O

Handy selection on Hagners from all Colonies with NSW Imperf 5d (large margins with part of the adjoining unit at left but it's dated 1865 so is unlikely to be "dinkum"); Queensland Small Chalons (12) including Perf 14-16 6d; South Australia Rouletted to 10d on 9d plus mint Thick 'POSTAGE' to 2/6d; Tasmania Chalons; Victoria Woodblocks Imperf 6d (6, including two pairs, all with full margins), postally used Stamp Duty to £2, mint group including Laureate ½d on 1d, Bell 1/- blue/blue, 1/6d orange, Crown/A 3d blocks of 4 x5 & 4d block of 4; Western Australia Swans; etc, condition a bit variable but generally fine. NEW SOUTH WALES

345

O

Neat collection in a Gibbons "Exeter" album with a few attractive imperfs including an unused 1d Sydney View (that unfortunately is a forgery), a decent 3d with 3½ margins & an appealing (6d) 'REGISTERED', also Diadems to 1/- including 1d pair with Rays '85' of Drayton (MBD). Then follows a good array of the middle period including 5/- Coin (6), surcharges & 'OS' overprints, Long Types 5/- (3, fiscal or fake cancels) & 10/- mint, and later issues (no high values) including 1907 Victorian Paper 2½d & 2/6d, Postage Dues to 20/- CTO/used (the 10/- with 'SPECIMEN' opt), finally a page of 'OS/NSW' perfins. Close attention should be had to the later perfs that the vendor has identified: many are much scarcer than the catalogue values would suggest. (Qty 400+)
