LITERATURE - Country Headings
Australia - Victoria: "Postal History of the Port Phillip District" being colour photocopies of Ray Kelly's Large Gold Medal exhibit, hardbound. As new. [A similar copy sold for $143 in our auction of 2/9/2005]
Fiji: "Illustrated Aviation & Air Mail History of Fiji" by Bryan Jones (2002), hardbound. As new.
Fiji: "The Postal History of Fiji" by Rodger (1999), the Proud Bailey volume with the most extensive published study of the post offices & postal markings plus regulations & rates information, general background etc, hardbound with d/j (which is defective), well-thumbed.
British Commonwealth postal history including better commercial airmail covers to Australia, some Hong Kong, BCOF airmail cover to Hong Kong with GB 2/6d green x6, Canadian KGVI express covers etc, then postal stationery ranges - mostly ex Ed Druce - from Antigua, Bermuda and Malaya plus modern Norfolk Island Postal Cards etc. Clearance estimate.
Bundle of covers including ten 1920-22 covers from China to Australia with Junk frankings & the last a "red-band" type, 1919 PPC from the same correspondence, a few WWII covers between England & Australia and so on, condition rather mixed.
Foreign covers including a bundle of pre-WWII Belgian Postal Cards including a few scenic types, also German commercial covers, a nice early item from Bulgaria etc. (Qty 100+)

pre-1930 Kangaroo frankings including ½d pairs on PPCs to NZ & GB, First Wmk (3) & Second Wmk 2½d solo frankings, 1919 Avis de Reception form with 2½d, two double-rate registered covers to USA each with 3d strip of 3, Australia/State combination frankings of 1d x2 + NSW ½d to France and 2d + Queensland 3d strip of 3 on registered cover to New Zealand etc, condition variable. Covers with KGV adhesives including 1923 'THE SENATE' cover with 2d scarlet perf 'OS', 1929 commercial airmail with unusual 'ARGYLE' (WA) cds, 1934 WA airmail with 'FIVE/PENCE' on 4½d solo franking, 1931 registered consular mail to Holland, 1928 registered to England with 1½d plus 3d Kookaburra, 1924 usage of Victorian 1d 'OS' Envelope uprated with 1d violet, 1930 registered to Spain, 1919 registered legal envelope with ½d green & 4d orange pair, etc, condition variable. Mixed Kangaroo/KGV frankings including 1916 registered to USA with 3d Roo + KGV 5d Single-Line Perf, 1923 3d Roo + 1d violet, 1915 to Switzerland with 2d Roo + ½d green, 1916 to USA with 3d Roo + 1d red pair & 'CH.1/[crown]/PASSED BY/CENSOR' h/s of Hobart, 1920 with 2d Roo + 4d orange, 1923 with 4-colour franking of 3d & 6d blue Roos + 1d violet & 2d scarlet x2, etc, condition a bit mixed. Commercial paquebot covers from Thursday Island (1958 straight-line h/s & 1972 cds), Carnarvon & Wyndham Port (both 1976 & philatelic), and Fremantle (1905 'PAQUEBOT'-between-lines; 1907 small unrecorded type; 1929 Krag machine; & 1934 slogan type plus unrecorded straight-line h/s). An excellent group of postage due covers including 1936 from GB with 'RECEIVED TORN' h/s, 1938 Royal Australian Navy envelope underpaid to USA, 1934 country NSW stampless cover endorsed "Kindly send me 4d/and the envelope", 1957 with Postage Due 2d & 4d tied by scarce 'RADIUM HILL/SOUTH AUST' cds etc, good to very fine. 1913 shipboard usage of Tasmanian PPC to London with scarce franking of ½d Kangaroo pair tied by superb 'COLOMBO PAQUEBOT' cds.
1913 usage to Germany of Queensland 1d PTPO Envelope uprated with Kangaroo ½d single & pair tied by Brisbane Krag machine cancel, minor imperfections & stained on the reverse.
1914 bank cover to South Africa "pCrewe Hall" with scarce solo franking of 4d Kangaroo tied by a fine strike of the 'LATE/FEE - STOCK EXCHANGE/VIC' duplex cancel, light strike of a boxed 'LATE FEE' h/s in violet, fine hexagonal 'LOURENCO MARQUES' transit b/s, central fold & minor bends.
1918 (Oct 3) complete edition of "The Sydney Mail" (Sep 25) to Ulverstone with KGV ½d green tied by Hobart cds, minor faults. A remarkable survivor.
