1851 (May 23) local cover addressed to the Captain of the HMS Acheron docked at Sydney, franked with 1d dull carmine Sydney View Plate II on Yellowish Paper SG 8 (clipped corners but clear of the design), just tied by bars cancel & very fine boxed '6/OCLOCK' h/s, fine cds on reverse.
1863 cover to England with part-Sydney duplex but the stamp washed-off, light strike of the boxed 'Saved from the wreck of/the Colombo' h/s, London cds in red on the face.

1906 Beirut Surcharge '1 Piastre' on GB KEVII 2d SG 15 tied to part-cover to Egypt by superb oval 'REGISTERED/2JY06/BEYROUT' d/s - the First Day of Issue - superb 'ALEXANDRIE' arrival b/s, lightly signed in pencil by Diena below the stamp, Cat £600 x3+ on cover. A rare first day "cover".
1858-79 Penny Plates 1d deep lake-red SG 44 Plate 213 block of 4, an intense and arresting shade, virtually full o.g. with the upper units very lightly mounted & the lower units being mounted, Cat £240+.
1962 National Productivity Year 2½d imperforate defaced proofs on watermarked paper, one of the cerise printing only, the other the completed design; & for 1961 CEPT a pair with ochre & mauve printing only (stained on the reverse), and & marginal single of the finished design, no gum. (Qty 4 items)

A wide-ranging selection including beautiful PTPO Envelopes, KEVII & KGV ½d+1d PTPO Wrappers to Turkey, useful 19th Century covers including to Rumania & Western Australia, early Regionals correctly used on commercial covers, some terrific postal markings, 1936 illustrated 1½d PTPO Envelope, military covers, a number of unusual destinations etc. There should be a fight for this lot, especially at this estimate! 1590 Corsini Correspondence entire letter to London from Pandalfo Cenami in Rouen France discussing trading in rye, playing cards, bibs & thistles. In very good condition with intact seal. Fascinating insight into 16th Century international commerce.
1853 (July & Sep) original Postmaster-General's "Instructions to all Postmasters" both headed 'Mails for Australia' regarding the upcoming sailings of "Vimiera" from Plymouth and "Neleus" from Liverpool, each with boxed 'LERWICK' Scottish d/s in green, professionally renovated and rebacked.
1858 tiny cover to "Melbourne/South Australia" (!) with 6d lilac (faults) tied by London duplex, readdressed to Berkshire with Queen-on-Throne 6d tied by Melbourne '1' "killer", minor soiling/toning.
