1864-79 CC 2d mauve Error of Colour SG 55b, attractively cancelled with void-grid & small-part of an unframed cds both in bright blue, Cat £11,000. RPSofV (1998) & Ceremuga (2007) Certificates both state that the stamp has been re-perforated at base & left. A popular rarity, of which there are very few used examples recorded, this example stated to be the only example with a coloured cancellation. [Cecil Walkley's very fine used example sold for $24,150 at our auction of 14/4/2005, at which time it was catalogued at £5500]

NEW BRUNSWICK: 1850s piece with rare franking of 3d dull red bisect SG 2a (Cat £2750 on cover) & 6d yellow SG 3 (Cat £800), both stamps with close to large margins, tied by fine 8'-in-oval-of-bars cancels in blue. Alberto Diena Certificate (1967) & the piece lightly signed by him on the face. Most attractive.

1878 Large Dragons 3ca brown-red (a few short perfs) & 5ca orange (very fine marginal example) SG 2 & 3 each with double-circle 'CUSTOMS/SEP11/79/NEWCHANG' cds, the 5ca additionally with part-Melbourne arrival cds!, Cat £220. Tragic: both stamps were almost certainly on a cover from Newchang to Victoria! (Qty 2)

An attractive classic-period cover.
