Handy group comprising 1898 "Gruss aus Stephansort" & 1902 "Gruss aus dem Bismarck Archipelago" (a lovely card) PPCs both from 'MATUPI', 1901 registered with German 30pf tied by 'STEPHANSORT' cds, 1908 philatelic registered cover from 'KIETA', & 1909 Neu Guinea Compagnie cover from Eitape with 10pf tied by 'FRIEDRICH-WILHELMSHAFEN' cds, a few minor defects. (Qty 5)

1914 (Feb 14; St Valentine's Day) Italian 1L75c parcel card - with the 'COUPON' remarkably still attached - to "Bogadijm/Stephansort/DNGuinea", 10c x2 25c x4 & 50c tied by Naples cds, Genoa squared-circle transit b/s & superb strike of the 'Kaiserliche Zollstelle/[arms]/Friedrich-Wilhelmshafen' Customs seal in violet, a few repaired peripheral tears that affect a couple of the stamps. [The only such non-German item we have seen. This and the next five lots are a new "find". They were acquired during the Occupation by an Australian soldier, presumably during a stint in Friedrich-Wilhelmshafen - renamed Madang in 1915 - and have just been released by his family]
1914 (April) parcel card from Germany to Friedrich-Wilhelmshafen ("FW'hafen") with 40pf 1mk (both on the reverse) & 2mk tied by 'JENA' cds, the 2mk & orange "Nachname/Remboursement' label partly obscured by 'Jena' label, oval 'BERLIN-SAALFELD' TPO & boxed 'SAALFELD/MUNCHEN/BAYER BAHNPOST' transit b/s, FW'hafen arrival b/s of 29/5/14 & 'Kaiserliche Zollstelle/[arms]/ Friedrich-Wilhelmshafen' Customs seal in violet, minor toning.

[Peterhafen is on Garowe Island in the Witu Group. It was one of the remotest German outposts]
a similar parcel card to \"Erima/Port Stephansort\" with 5pf x2 30pf & 3mk (all but one 5pf on the reverse) tied by \'DRESDEN\' cds, oval \'LEIPZIG-HOF\' TPO & \'HOF\' transit b/s, very fine FW\'hafen arrival b/s & very fine strike of the Customs seal. [Erima was described in 1898 as an \"insignificant place\". Even today the population is less than 500]
1914 a similar parcel card to "Angorum (Sepik)" with 40pf 50pf & 2mk tied by 'LEIPZIG' cdscds, very fine FW'hafen arrival b/s & light but clear strike of the Customs seal, a few very minor blemishes. Another really remote destination. [Angoram lies 100km up the Sepik River. The Germans established a "station" there but a post office was opened only in 1934]
1914 a similar parcel card to FW'hafen with DNG Yachts 10pf & 40pf tied by 'RABAUL/ (DEUTSCH-/NEUGUINEA)/10.7.14/2-3 II' cds, very fine FW'hafen arrival b/s & light but clear strike of the Customs seal, a few insignificant blemishes. The first such internal item we have recorded. [A similar 1914 parcel card used from Herbertshohe to Germany offered at a German auction in March 2005. It was described as "A rarity of German NewGuinea", and sold for €4400]
