AUSTRALIA: Useful group including 1891 late pre-UPU 1/- rate from NSW to Denmark, 1899 Victorian Postal Card to Indo-China, 1933 & 1934 covers to USA both with 'POSTED SHIP SIDE/SYDNEY' cds, philatelic cover with 3d Kookaburra tied by 'LOOSE SHIP LETTER' h/s of Melbourne, 1920s five covers to the same person in London endorsed per different ships + PPCs of four of the ships, 1958 & 1963 covers with different Thursday Island paquebot h/s or cds, etc. (Qty 21 items)
SOLOMON ISLANDS: 1926 & 1927 covers to the same firm in Adelaide with ½d & 1d or 1½d tied by Sydney slogan or cds & double-oval 'LOOSE SHIP/LETTER' h/s alongside; also 1939 Commonwealth Bank cover to Sydney with small 'PAQUEBOT' h/s (as Hosking #1365, but that is recorded only from 1983!) & 1½d pair tied by 'PAQUEBOT' machine cancel (#1361), vertical fold. Australia: Excellent bundle of mostly Kerry photographic cards with strength in New South Wales subjects including suburbs, snowfields, coastal views & caves, also rural views including "Bush Sketches" and numerous aboriginal studies etc, condition a bit mixed but many are very fine to superb. [Charles Kerry (1855-1923) is widely regarded as Australia's pre-eminent photographer of the pre-WWI period. His PPCs are of a standard rarely attained by any others of the era. From 1890 he was official photographer to the Governor of New South Wales. An enormous collection of his glass plates reposes in Sydney's Powerhouse Museum] (Qty 120+)

comprising ½d (2), 1d (5), 2d (8, including two pairs), 3d (3), 4d (3), 6d blue (10, including two pairs), 6d brown, 9d (2) & 1/- (6, including strip of 3), also 2/- maroon perf \'G/NSW\' (3) & private perfins \'MH\' on 3d & \'A&R/LTD\' on 6d blue; finally 1d apparently (but not likely) imperforate at base; generally good to fine but some ugly cancels. 1932 Sydney Harbour Bridge 2d (Recess) 3d & 5/- (unusually well centred) tied to piece by 3 superb strikes of 'REGISTERED /F/14MR32 A/SYDNEY NSW' cds being the first day of issue, Cat $500 postally used with a substantial premium for the day of issue usage. [An illustrated First Day Cover with all 4 values sold for $9800 in our auction of 1/9/2007]
c.1936 Pictorials 1/4d "HAWKESBURY RIVER/NEW SOUTH WALES" horizontal format, endorsed "Eucalypt" at lower-left, with two stamp-size photographic reductions affixed at base, some staining.

1911 Fullface 1d '...to' on Greenish Stock L3a "LAKE ST CLAIR/TASMANIA" (man in boat) in greenish black, "MOSMANS BAY/SYDNEY NSW" (ferry & battleship in the distance) in dull brown, & "PINEAPPLES/Q" in dull brown, all unused. [An interesting trio in that all three captions were used for other views] (Qty 3)

Postal Stationery array about half-and-half from New South Wales & Victoria with many useful items throughout, from a European source so the quality generally is fine to very fine unused or used. (Qty 150+)
Mostly used collections in three stockbooks including New South Wales with a few Imperf Laureates and Small Diadems, later issues to 5/- (3, one *), plus Officials, Postage Dues and Revenues; Queensland well populated array with Small Chalons to 5/- & Large Chalons to £1 (high values mostly with fiscal cancels) and a sprinkling of handy mint issues, South Australia with useful early rouletted and perforated issues, 1886-96 £1 & £4 "Long Toms" optd 'SPECIMEN', Officials including mint blocks of 4; Western Australia including 1895 ½d on 3d Double Overprint in Red and in Green unused, later issues to 2/6d used. Condition mixed. (Qty 100s)
Selection of forgeries mounted & annotated as per Earée's "Album Weeds" with New South Wales Sydney Views 1d (5), 2d (10) & 3d (2); Laureates 1d (2), 2d & 3d (2); perforated Diadems, Imperf 'REGISTERED', etc; also Victoria Half-Lengths 1d (3), 2d (2) & 3d plus Jeffrye's 2d (3, one "used") & 3d (8, one "used"), Queen-on-Throne 1d & 2d, 1/- Octagonal & 5/- Laureate; also a few originals - in generally poor condition - for comparison.
