BARRED NUMERALS: Original State '112' two superb strikes tying Laureate 2d & Redrawn 6d black to outer to Melbourne, light strike of the rare 20½mm 'DUNKELD/SE14/64/VICTORIA' b/s (unrecorded in WWW), the cover endorsed "Mt Sturgeon/14 9 64" at lower-left, vertical fold & minor blemishes. Rated RRR. Ex Nick Holness. Mount Sturgeon was renamed Dunkeld 1/1/1854. A marvellous Barred Numeral cover.

BARRED NUMERALS: '410' very fine strike tying Laureate 2d pair to flapless cover to Melbourne, fine 20mm 'WINDERMERE/AP24/66/VICTORIA' b/s (LRD). Rated R. PO 1/9/1862; closed 31/7/1975.
Federal Parliament House: framed 'FEDERAL PARLIAMENT HOUSE/FE10/02/ - ' (no inscription at the base; ERD) three good to fine strikes on 1d & 2d pair. Rated RRR. PO c.-/12/1901; closed 30/6/1927. [The office was open only while the Parliament was sitting]
Melbourne: Selection of pre-1913 covers, PPCs & Postal Stationery with various duplex, single-ring and double-ring cancels, generally fine condition with many very fine strikes noted. (Qty 72)

Frank Stamps: 1892 envelope with printed 'MINISTER OF DEFENCE' Frank & 'HEAD-QUARTERS, VICTORIAN MILITARY FORCES' imprint at lower-left, to an infantry officer in the Channel islands with superb South Melbourne duplex, readdressed to London (b/s) & very fine 'GUERNSEY' squared-circle on the face. Exhibition item!
1878 Large Dragons 3ca brown-red (a few short perfs) & 5ca orange (very fine marginal example) SG 2 & 3 each with double-circle 'CUSTOMS/SEP11/79/NEWCHANG' cds, the 5ca additionally with part-Melbourne arrival cds!, Cat £220. Tragic: both stamps were almost certainly on a cover from Newchang to Victoria! (Qty 2)
GREAT BRITAIN - Postal History
Birnie family correspondence comprising entires with Imperf or Perf Penny Reds (9, two with boxed 'QUEEN/STREET' handstamp), three entires to Victoria 1856 with Embossed 6d (almost 4 margins, small fault at base), 1857 with 2d blue & defective 4d, and 1861 with 1d & fine 4d pair, plus a few scraps, condition rather mixed.
