The ultimate item for the collector of Instructional Markings being a c.1905 stampless addressed envelope that has been struck with no less than 12 different handstamps including 'TOO LATE', 'NOT-KNOWN', 'CANNOT-BE/FOUND', 'MISSENT TO/LAUNCESTON' etc, also the only recorded example of the large 'L' h/s for use on "Listed" letters (a variant of the registration service). A pity it didn't actually pass through the post. [Illustrated in "Handbook" Part II opp p34]
