TASMANIA: Large album of mostly PPCs plus a smattering of Postal Cards & covers, selected for the all-different Pictorials period datestamps arranged alphabetically, mostly the more common towns but includes many rated R plus 'BLACK BRUSH', 'GAWLER', 'PILLINGER', 'PYENGANA' (light), 'ROKEBY', 'SELBOURNE', 'SOUTH PRESTON' & 'UPPER HUON' all rated RR, some are arrival markings. Excellent PPC content with many better views & subjects (not all Tasmanian), condition of the cards & datestamps is very mixed. [Full list available on request] (Qty 200 approx)

1918 local cover to "Sec for Mines/Hobart" with KGV 1d red only but endorsed on the reverse "Coin 1/-" so endorsed "OR" & 'OFFICIALLY/REGISTERED/("6d") TO PAY' h/s applied in blue, early blue/black registration label, very fine boxed 'REFUSED' h/s & very late usage of double-oval 'DEAD LETTER OFFICE/TASMANIA' d/s in magenta plus DLO cds on reverse, minor blemishes.

1924 cover to Burnie with 1½d red tied by British Empire Exhibition slogan cancel of Launceston, very fine strike of the well-worn 'POSTED OUT/OF COURSE' h/s, minor blemishes. [Addressed to "Miss Tête D'Etoupes" (= Miss Pumpkinhead!), the Inspector of Schools]

WORLD WAR I: 1916 PPC from Egypt to Perth with 'ON ACTIVE SERVICE/4th TRNG BATTN' h/s in violet & superb 'AUSTRALIAN BASE/DETAILS PO' cds, boxed 'MISSENT/TO/HOBART' h/s (LRD), a few minor blemishes. Ex Patrick Reid.

Modest array on Hagners with strength in South Australia including imperf 6d with 4 margins, range of rouletted issues to 1/- (3, one in orange) including 'TEN PENCE' on 9d (2), Middle Period including '3-PENCE' on 4d (5, one in red), 'POSTAGE & REVENUE' 2/6d (4) 5/- & 10/- (2), later "Long Toms" to 2/6d, plus a handy group of Officials; New South Wales with a few imperfs,1885-86 Long Type 10/- optd 'POSTAGE' in blue, Victoria with Wmk Crown/A 5/- perf 'OS' pair, WA to 2/6d, plus some Queensland & Tasmania, mixed condition. Neat little collection with Courier 4d (a rebacked shocker!), Chalons Star Wmk 2d (2, one a "cracker" but it's been repaired), No Wmk 1d, Numeral Wmks 2d (4), 6d (4) & 1/-, mint Sidefaces including 4d blue (faults) & 10d (4), handy group of Pictorials (some on pages Ex Colonel Evans) including mint 4d (7) & 6d (2), etc, condition variable especially in the earlies. Collection remainders including presentation sheet with Sideface 9d & 10d, Tablets ½d to 10/- & London Pictorials set all CTO (some faults) affixed to thick card, London Pictorials 6d mint, CTO Pictorials 3d, 4d x2, 5d & 6d x2 all with large-part o.g. etc, also selection of Pictorials cancelled on arrival in New Zealand including 5d & usage interstate including 6d with Melbourne parcels cds. 1860-67 'TASMANIA' 6d reddish mauve SG 49, margins at top & base (with a fragment of the adjoining unit) and the outer framelines at sides just shaved, Cat £700. Ex Sebastian Earl & Robinson. RPSofL Certificate (1952). [The only other unused example of which we are aware was in the "Maxwell Hayes" sale]
1870-96 Sidefaces Imperforate Horizontal Pairs comprising 3d red-brown SG 161a, 1d pink SG 164a (minor faults) & ½d orange SG 172a (small stain), hinge remainders, Cat £635. (Qty 3 pairs)
1899-1900 De La Rue Pictorials mostly mint annotated selection with ½d to 6d SG 229-236 two sets + blocks of 4 or 6 (4d & 5d), ½d block of 4 with Plate Number '1', 2½d block of 30 (5x6) with margins 3 sides (most units unmounted), used 6d (4) etc, generally very fine, Cat £1500+. [The Pictorials in this section are from the fine collection formed by our old friend Mac Clarke. Many of these items we have never before offered] (Qty 116)
1899-1900 De La Rue Pictorials ½d green SG 229 overprinted 'Specimen' marginal block of 4 from the left of the sheet with virtually complete Plate Number '2', creased in the margin. Rare, perhaps unique with the Plate Number.

1899-1900 De La Rue Pictorials 2d 'HOBART' die proof in deep carmine on wove paper (43x42mm), rich colour, minor bend at lower-left well clear of the impression & of no consequence. Gorgeous!
1899-1900 De La Rue Pictorials 2d purple overprinted 'Specimen' with Double Overprint, a few short perfs, no gum.
1899-1900 De La Rue Pictorials ½d, 2½d (poorly centred) & 5d (the upper unit in a vertical pair) all with 'Specimen' (No Stop) Overprint. Very scarce varieties. (Qty 3)
1902-04 V/Crown Lithograph Pictorials annotated mostly used selection with ½d Perf 11x12½ (mint), 1d Comet Flaw (2), 1d apparently Imperf at Left & 2d apparently Imperf at Top, Double Perfs of the ½d 1d x2 & 2d x4, 2d Perf 12½x11, 2d with excellent Pre-Printing Paper Flaws, ½d Perf 12½ & Perf 11 pairs with Reversed Watermarks etc, generally fine to very fine.
