The Australians took the perpetrators to Rabaul & administered "eye-for-an-eye" floggings, in the presence of the German residents who were required to attend. Photography was banned but an enterprising American sailor took this snap, which he later sold to the German Consul at Soerabaja. The incident is included in Vol X of "The Official History of Australia in the War" (1927). Sold for $299 in or sale of 17/10/2008]
