1866 cover to the Isle of Wight with Perf 13 Diadem 6d purple & 'REGISTERED' (6d) upper-right corner example cancelled with bars of Sydney, oval 'REGISTERED/MY28/1866/SYDNEY NSW' d/s in red at lower-left, 'RYDE' transit & 'SANDOWN' arrival b/s, a little soiled.

Penneshaw (Kangaroo Island): 'PENNESHAW/2MY36/S.A.' two good to almost fine strikes on Howard Johnson cover, blue/black registration label.

1958-2003 FDCs selection with strength in 1980s-2000s era many duplicated and mostly unaddressed; also a lesser selection of 1955-2001 Cocos with duplication. Thematic interest including birds & fish, some condition issues on early items.
REGISTRATION ENVELOPES: 30c with 'CHRISTMAS ISLAND/(Indian Ocean) Aust' label; & Australian 2/5d used at Cocos Islands with 'Cocos (Keeling) Islands/Indian Ocean' label. Scarce commercial usages. (Qty 2)
Group of philatelic registered covers comprising 1895 to Tasmania with Federation set (aged); Aitutaki 1913 with 5 values to 1/- & cds in rosine on the registration label and 1934 with KGV 1/-; Niue 1905 long cover with values including Birds set & 1935 with Jubilee set; and Penrhyn 1902 with ½d 1d & 2½d cancelled at Rarotonga, and 1915 with 6 values to 1/-; generally fine. 1894 registered cover to San Francisco with Federation 1d to 10d tied by 'RAROTONGA'-in-Bars cancels in violet & cds below also in violet, superb 42mm 'GOVERNMENT OF THE COOK ISLANDS' cachet in violet on the reverse, Wellington transit b/s.
1909 cover to Wells Fargo at San Francisco via Wellington & Auckland with scarce franking of Torea 2d 6d & 1/- tied by double-circle cds, italic 'Rarotonga' h/s in violet on large registreation label, private cachet 'CHARLES W BANKS/OCT/RAROTONGA' in blue on the flap
1912 OHMS cover with 'COOK ISLANDS ADMINISTRATION' at lower-left, registered to Canada & correctly rated with ½d 1d 1½d & 2d, San Francisco transit & Montreal arrival b/s. Superb! Ex Boulangier: sold for $644 at our auction of 5/12/2003.
1918 (Nov 22) OHMS cover to the Belgian Army in France correctly rated with ½d 1d & 2½d, rare 'Rarotonga/Cook Islands' registration label, readdressed to Belgium (b/s), minor blemishes. Ex Boulangier: sold for $784 at our auction of 5/12/2003. [Handbook Volume V states that printed Registration Labels were introduced "about 1937". There was no example in the Fitzpatrick, Bury or Jensen collections]
NIUE: 1933 locally addressed cover with Captain Cook 1½d pair & attractive watercolour illustration.
PENRHYN: 1910 commercial cover to France with Overprints 2½d pair (underpaid ½d) & large registration label with "PENRHYN/ISLAND" in rosine, 'U.S. SEA POST/REG' transit b/s in blue.
CAROLINE ISLANDS: 1913 (No Publisher) PPC of "Angaur Palau-Inseln" (beach scene) to Victoria with Yachts 10pf pair tied by two fine strikes of the scarce 'ANGAUR/PALAU INSELN' cds. Great origin/destination item. [Sold for $630 in our auction of 29/3/2008]
