1915 black/pink parcel label with an extraordinary franking of Kangaroos Second Wmk 1/- deep dull green BW #31C single (small tear) & block of 4 + KGV 4d orange pair all tied by superb ovoid 'PARCEL POST/17MAY1915/ADELAIDE' datestamp, Cat $1250+ as singles (off-cover). The Second Wmk 1/- is not priced on cover. Simon Dunkerley Certificate (2008).

An amazing "cover". The 1/- is a scarce stamp that is very hard to find well centred & fine used. But this is also believed to be the only recorded used block of BW #31C.

1930 entire makeshift parcel label (200x170mm) still affixed to a slightly larger piece from a linen bag to Switzerland with an amazing seven-colours franking comprising Roos 6d brown, 1/- x2 & 2/- maroon vetical pair (the upper-unit Chopped Neck BW #39d) + KGV d orange, 1d green, 'TWO/PENCE' on 1d red & 3d blue all tied by 'PARCEL POST/ROCKHAMPTON' cds, noted as weighing 150oz or "11 lbs avoid", insured for 50 with a green/white 'INSURED PARCEL' label (not previously seen by us), on arrival two Swiss labels added, some minor blemishes but remarkably fine for such an item. Truly astonishing!

With a letter from Richard Breckon confirming the postage of 5/4d for a parcel weighing between 8 & 11 pounds (represented by the stamps at upper-right), plus 1/8d - the stamps at lower-right - for insurance cover between 48 & 50. Also with the relevant extracts from the 1930 "Post Office Guide". The bag probably contained sapphires as it is from one of the prominent gemstone miners at "Sapphire via Anakie" in central Queensland. Other towns in the vicinity are Emerald & Rubyvale.
