1891 usage of 2d Postal Card to Germany with Melbourne duplex of OC1/91 being the day Victoria joined the Universal Postal Union & from when the foreign postcard rate was reduced to 1d, 'T'-in-oval h/s applied & then crossed-through when the error was realised. Superb! Ex Hugh Freeman. [An exceptional item for the Victorian postal historian or collector of UPU as a subject]

1912 cover to Hawthorn with 1d pink tied by a superb strike of the rare Melbourne "boxed flag" Krag continuous-machine cancellation, the flap removed otherwise superb. Ex Purves & Hugh Freeman, who advises that only a couple of other covers are recorded and they are defective. [One of the great rarities of Melbourne postmarks and of world machine cancels. It was in use on a trial basis for at most three days in June and December 1912]

Mounted & annotated collection of World War II Australian Army civil post offices comprising mostly registered covers including from Bendigo (2, one with 'BENDIGO_____E____' "relief" cds, the other commercial), Darby No 1, Foster No 1, Lysterfield Hills, Mangalore, Mornington (with 'RELIEF/No 8' cds), Rowville, Seymour No 5 (2, one with 'RELIEF/VIC-AUST-34' cds, not registered), Seymour No 25A, Torquay (both types on unregistered commercial covers), Watsonia, Werribee & Williamstown etc, also some Forces types used at Victorian Camps, several rubber d/s including boxed 'MILITARY PO/BANDIANA/VICTORIA', oval 'MILITARY POST OFFICE/PUCKAPUNYAL No 1 Vic' (on telegram) & double-oval 'MILITARY PO/SEYMOUR No 17', OHMS cover with 'UNCLAIMED AT MIL PO/ PUCKAPUNYAL NO 1' etc, both the covers & the markings are generally fine to very fine. Undated straight-line handstamps from 'AVOCA' (unframed, on 1907 PPC), 'DAYLESFORD' (rounded-box, on 1901 registered cover to New Zealand), 'MACEDON' (boxed, cancelling 1888 1d Postal Card) & 'NORADJUHA' (unframed, on 1901 1d Postal Card). Very scarce quartet. [These handstamps were intended for use on internal post office correspondence. However, they are occasionally seen on cover, usually cancelling Postage Due stamps] (Qty 4)

Enormous collection on homemade pages in 35 ring-binders with strength in the QEII period - especially modern "rubbers" where there are sure to be many rarities - but lots of other useful material from early 20th century onwards, hundreds of covers & PPCs etc throughout & the condition generally is fine+ with the strikes being generally good to very fine. The best items have been removed by our vendor but, at about $50 per album, what remains is a bargain-basement entry to a serious collection. (Qty 1000s)
