VICTORIA - Postmarks
La Trobe R.S.: unframed 'LATROBE/SE26/84/VICTORIA' good strike on OHMS lettersheet (slightly reduced at left). Not previously recorded. PO 1/1/1884; renamed Glengarry 1/12/1884 so usage for 11 months only. [There was never an office called simply "Latrobe", & "Latrobe Bridge" had been renamed Longford in 1877]
Lake Tyers: 'TELEGRAPH OFFICE LAKE TYERS/---/16/VIC' (Receiving Office period) very fine & almost complete strike on KGV 1d. TO datestamps of this period are very rare. RO 1902; PO 1/7/1927; closed 26/2/1971.

Melbourne: 1900-1912 attractively presented collection of the double-circle postmarks and early single-line date cds, with many covers & postcards, some very early & late dates noted, numerous fine to superb strikes; also 1937 registered cover (filing-holes) from Linga with KGV 5d tied by Melbourne '1'-in-bars "killer".
Melbourne: 'M.O.OFFICE/31MY09/MELBOURNE-VIC' & double-circle 'REGISTERED MELBOURNE/-3-' cds on stampless cover from England with boxed 'LONDON/M.O.D.' d/s, flap removed. Money Order envelopes were sent as secured-bag mail between postal administrations & registered upon arrival at no cost to the recipient. Offered with no reserve.
Melbourne: 'PAID AT/--19MY24/ -11- /MELBOURNE.VIC' & similar '-12-' cds of 1921 both in black on OHMS postcard or magazine wrapper respectively. Scarce bulk-postage markings. No reserve. (Qty 2)
Murchison R.S.: unframed 'MURCHISON RLY STN/SE23/84/VIC' (previously unrecorded) largely fine strike & BN 'MCC/80' light strike on OHMS lettersheet. PO 8/5/1882; renamed Murchison East 10/11/1890.
Narre Warren (1): 27mm framed 'NARRE WARREN/19MAY1897' cds two fine strikes in blue on 1d Postal Card (minor stain on the reverse). A most unusual cds for the period, having no inscription at the base and wheels - not "slugs" - for the date: usage is recorded in 1897 only. PO 21/1/1869; renamed Narre Warren North 9/10/1900. [6km NNW of Berwick]
Quartz Reefs, Stawell: 'QUARTZ REEFS STAWELL/SE3/69/VICTORIA' cds (ERD) very fine strike across the flap of entire to the Police in Melbourne (b/s) with BN First Type '265' (A1-) tying Laureate 2d. Renamed from Quartz Reefs, Pleasant Creek c.1867; renamed Stawell (2) 1/7/1870.
Rokewood Junction: unframed 'ROKEWOOD-JUNCTION/DE22/74/ V ' (previously unrecorded) & BN '659' superb strikes on OHMS lettersheet. PO 1/10/1868. [Previously, the earliest cds recorded was of 1899! Interestingly, the only other cds with 'V 'only at the base was issued to Newtown, Scarsdale - which opened 12/11/1868 - also with a hyphen in the office name]
Springfield (1): unframed 'SPRINGFIELD/MY28/83/VICTORIA' very fine strike & BN '44' (A2) on OHMS lettersheet. PO 11/11/1862; renamed Woodend North 8/9/1884. [Not to be confused with Springfield (2), near Kilmore, nor Springfield (3), near Berriwillock!]
Travelling Post Offices: Duplicated group of the later "Commonwealth" types on Roos & KGV values with lots of 'UP' types & a good group of 'DOWN' types with 2 3 6 11 13 14 16 17 & 19, also a few English Mail types including 'ENG MAIL TPO/IN---/VIC' b/s, mostly fine to very fine strikes. (Qty 77)
Travelling Post Offices: vertical-oval 'UP/TRAVELLING/POST OFFICE/22DC74/VICTORIA/M.G.1' superb strike on OHMS lettersheet, also with unframed 'DURDIDWARRAH/DC19/74/VICTORiA' (previously unrecorded) largely fine strike on another panel.
Travelling Post Offices: vertical-oval 'UP/TRAVELLING/POST OFFICE/4JA75/VICTORIA/M.G.1' superb b/s & unframed 'BUNINYONG RY STN' cds (the later of 2 recorded strikes) alongside on OHMS lettersheet, also with unframed 'WERRACKNABEAL/VIC' cds (previously unrecorded) on another panel.
Travelling Post Offices: First Type 'UP TRAIN/M.G.6/AU22/78/:VICTORIA:' (double stops) very fine transit b/s on cover from Benalla to Geelong (b/s), with rare franking of Emergency Papers ½d rose/pink SG 195 block of 4 (Cat £100 x3+), some tonespots mostly on the face. Ex Hugh Freeman.
Travelling Post Offices: 22mm 'UP TRAIN/M.G.6/SE19/84/.VICTORIA.' (single stops) fair & largely very fine strikes on OHMS lettersheet. Recorded NO24/82 until DE16/85 only.
Travelling Post Offices: octagonal 'DOWN TRAIN/M.G.14/OC30/74/VICTORIA - T.P.O./14' duplex (LRD) largely fine to very fine b/s on OHMS lettersheet.
