1915 stampless cover to the Red Cross in Switzerland endorsed on the flap "Prisoner of War/Bruni Island/Camp", light 'CH1/[crown]/PASSED BY/CENSOR' h/s applied at Hobart, Geneva arrival b/s where unusually taxed because the required POW endorsement was omitted from the face. A great POW rarity. [This camp was so insignificant that Emery didn't mention it in either of his books & neither does the Bruny Island Historical Society website!]

1891 usage of 2d Postal Card to Germany with Melbourne duplex of OC1/91 being the day Victoria joined the Universal Postal Union & from when the foreign postcard rate was reduced to 1d, 'T'-in-oval h/s applied & then crossed-through when the error was realised. Superb! Ex Hugh Freeman. [An exceptional item for the Victorian postal historian or collector of UPU as a subject]

CLOSED AGAINST INSPECTION: boxed 'CLOSED AGAINST/INSPECTION' two good to fine strikes on 1896 cover to England, endorsed "Card only/with care" & sent at the concessional 2d rate that required the envelope not be sealed, 'T(= 1d)' h/s applied in error, crossed-through & the international 'T/25c'-in-Hexagon h/s applied, however, GB '5D/F.B./C' h/s applied on arrival, minor blemishes. [In this period, while only double the deficiency was charged on local letters, underpaid mail going abroad was treated as wholly unpaid, hence taxed letter rate 2d x2. The clerk in Melbourne had treated it as unpaid but charged only the deficiency & not the 100% penalty]
