British Commonwealth predominantly used collections to 2002 in Stanley Gibbons one-country albums with Australia from 1913 in two volumes; Great Britain from 1840s in 4 volumes with QV to 5/- (2), KGV 1913-19 Seahorses to 10/- plus Re-Engraved trio; New Zealand from 1855 in 2 volumes; Canada from 1859 in 3 volumes. The collections are generally sparse or patchy to 1960s with the early material in very mixed condition, however the 1970s to mid-1990s issues show a better degree of completion. The albums alone are worth a fair proportion of the estimate. (Qty 1000s)
British Commonwealth disorganised accumulation in stockbooks with unmounted Australia including sets, M/Ss, complete sheets, stamp packs and booklets; Great Britain & Channel Islands and New Zealand sets & M/Ss; plus Australian Territories, British Antarctic Territory, Canada & Tokelau sets; also some used/CTO stamps. GREAT BRITAIN: Group of convict-related items including 1787 Northumberland "Calendar of Prisoners" (3 of whom are identified as having been sent to Botany Bay in 1799), 1815 Act of Parliament "Relative to the Transportation of Offenders", 1817 Liverpool "Calendar of Prisoners" including 3 sentenced to 7 years transportation, 1846 written records of two prisoners' hearings, 1849 Certificate of Conviction of William Hissey transported to Van Diemen's Land, etc, condition variable. GREAT BRITAIN: Early newspapers comprising 1) "The Edinburgh Star" (21-25/12/1810), aged; 2) "Special Number of the Illustrated London News" for the death of Queen Victoria (30/1/1901), 48pp, the outer pages detached & defective but internally quite fine; & 3) "The Daily Mirror" condemning the sinking of the "Lusitania" (8/5/1915), very fine; also 4) USA "Harper's Weekly" (New York, 16/1/1864), poor.
GREAT BRITAIN: 1936 HMS "Danae" printed illustrated "Certificate" (380x266mm) awarded to LT Heron-Watson on the occasion of crossing the Equator en route to Australia, a couple of insignificant peripheral blemishes otherwise superb!
GREAT BRITAIN: Bundle of mostly KEVII royalty cards with a range of subjects including family portraits, visiting Royals, processions & several mourning cards for both QV & KEVII, mostly unused & generally fine to very fine. (Qty 52)

1856 stampless outer to France with fine '3' rate h/s & poor Sydney b/s, London transit b/s & fine strike of the boxed 'COLONIES/ART 18' Anglo-French Postal Convention h/s - rare on mail from Australia - both in red, French 'ANGL/AMB CALAIS K' TPO cds & '15' (decimes' h/s, light horizontal filing- fold.

TASMANIA - Postal History
1836 entire headed "Hobart Town May 4th 1835" & signed "Chas Price", to London rated "4" in red for outgoing shipletter, boxed 'INDIA LETTER/DOVER' b/s in red & rated "1/-" for an incoming packetletter, 'G.P.' h/s of London in red, minor blemishes. From the period of no handstamps. [Charles Price was a prominent Congregational minister & temperance advocate. Price reached Launceston (for the second time) on 29/4/1836 so this letter is from immediately after his arrival. He speaks of asking "the Governor for a piece of ground for a Chapel...I shall leave no stone unturned to get a Chapel as soon as possible"]
FRENCH POLYNESIA - Postal History
1833 brief entire headed "Janry 14 1833/Huahine" & signed "Chas Banff" with fine '[crown]/GENERAL POST OFFICE/18AP18/1833/SYDNEY' datestamp on the face, equally fine 'India Letter/Gravesend' b/s across the flap & London arrival b/s in red. Another very early letter. [By the time this letter reached England, Banff & John Williams had left Polynesia for Samoa where, in 1836, they were eaten by cannibals!]
1859-60 trio comprising 1) stampless entire to Portugal with '45' h/s; 2) outer to Italy "col Vapore Crimean" with GB 2d tied by light 'A26' & very fine 'VIA/DI MARE/(E)' h/s in red; & 3) outer to 'GRANADA' (b/s) with Spanish 4q (a little cut-into) tied by largely very fine '63' of the Spanish PO at Gibraltar, French 'SAN ROQUE/CADIZ' transit cds on the face. 1840-1960 collection with used 1840 1d black & 2d blue both with complete margins (2d with thinning), 6d Embossed cut-square, Surface Printed including 1867-80 9d & 10d, 1883-84 10/- plus Imperial Crowns £1 handstamped 'SPECIMEN' (some staining, Cat £2400), Jubilees to 10d mint plus £1 used (creasing), KEVII to 1/- mint plus 10/- (steel cds) & £1 used, KGV 1913-1919 Seahorses to 10/-, PUC £1 (parcel cancel), KGVI Festival high values *, QEII Waterlow Castles (£1 **), condition variable.
