1914 (Oct 26) usage of US 2c Envelope (+ 3c adhesive) to an officer aboard the German Nord Deutscher Lloyd ship SS "Thuringen" at Fremantle (WA), fine strike of the scarce 'C.M.F/RELEASED/ BY CENSOR.' h/s (P&H #5CC1.2; ERD by 2 months) in blue, readdressed in blue pencil to POW barracks on Rottnest Island. [On 26/8/1914, the "Thuringen" was captured by the "Pioneer" off Rottnest Island & brought to Fremantle. The crew were interned on Rottnest Island]

Also includes four Deutsches Rotes Kreus/Präsidium letters enquiring about the whereabouts of German servicemen. An interesting lot. (Qty 11)
