QUEENSLAND - Postal History
1909 PPC ("Mount Morgan from Chandon Hill") to New Zealand, 1d with manuscript "Baree/21-6-09" & tied by light BN (apparently '308' NNS or '508' rated RRRRR ??), corner crease & some soiling. Baree Receiving Office - 1½ miles N of Mount Morgan - opened 1901; PO c.1917. [Goldmining]
1855 Large Star 2d deep green SG 15, margins just clear to large, manuscript cross-hatching postal cancellation, Cat £500. Ex David Cohen. RPSofV Certificate (2009) states "the pen cancel is in accordance with the instructions to postmasters".

1952 Hopkins cover to England with KGVI 2d & manuscript cancellation "seamail/RCS Kia Kia/ SEdwards/Master/16 2 52", Tarawa cds of 22FE/52 alongside, a few blemishes.
MANDATED TERRITORY OF NEW GUINEA: 1931 stampless commercial cover with OHMS heading crossed-out, to Brisbane with manuscript "2d Postage Paid/RJWhiteman/PM" & 'MANUS/17MR31/ NEW GUINEA' cds (Powell #85), a bit aged. Rare provisional marking during a period of no low denomination stamps being available.
MANDATED TERRITORY OF NEW GUINEA: 1936 stampless commercial cover to Brisbane with postmaster's endorsement "Postage Pd/2 pence/RRMcL/PM" in red overstruck with 'MANUS/25JUL1936/NEW GUINEA' cds (#86) in violet, opened a bit roughly & a few other faults still presentable. Rare provisional usage. [With (laminated) 'TERRITORY OF NEW GUINEA' letterhead dated 2/12/1936 from the postmaster advising that some 75 items were so serviced "...due to a shortage of the necessary postage stamps...at a post office which is served, generally, by a six weekly steamship service" & signed "RRMcLennan"] (Qty 2 items)
