1871-1902 Wmk '36' 1/- imperforate plate proof marginal gutter block of 12 (6x2) in green on gummed unwatermarked paper; and a similar gutter block of 10 (5x2) in green on ungummed watermarked paper; endorsed "De La Rue Proof/Ford to Treasury 19 Jan 1876" or "GPO Proof/Forwd to Treasury 19 1 76" in pencil in the margins, some pinholes (mostly in the margins) from where attached to the official files, some minor tonespots. A highly significant pair of proofs: see Basset Hull at page 251.

Unwatermarked plate proofs in green are relatively common but they are from the 1976 auction of the De La Rue Archives. This block is from the original proof sheets submitted by De La Rue to the NSW Government Printer &, in turn, to the NSW Treasury. The watermarked plate proofs are rare.

1897-1908 Figures in Four Corners 9d colour-trial pair in myrtle-green on gummed Crown/Q paper defaced with a ruled line in red ink BW #Q43(E)1Bc, very lightly mounted, Cat $5000+. Unissued value in this series. Ex William Knight, JH Chapman and Colonel Harrie Evans.

Prepared in early-1903 to comply with the new basic telegram rate of 9d, but rejected in favour of the "Uniform" 9d design proposed by Postmaster-General Drake that was adopted by only New South Wales & Queensland. This is therefore a very significant item for the Commonwealth of Australia collector. Colonel Evans had six similar pairs in different colours: the others were sold for an average of $3380 at previous Prestige auctions.
