"DOUBLE-HEADER": '80 - 80' of Perth three fine & largely complete strikes on Wmk CC Perf 12 2d yellow SG 55 block of 6 (2x3). Most examples seen are partial strikes on single stamps. [Pope & Reynolds at pages 17-18 speculate that this was intended for use only on newspapers sent to GB via Brindisi. No such newspaper usage is known, & only two covers are recorded]

PERTH: 1865 cover to "Miss Hamersley/Pyrton/Guildford" with Clean-Cut Perf 14-16 2d blue SG 41 tied by 'PERTH/MY18/1865/=WESTERN=AUSTRALIA= - GPO' duplex (#DxA1), flap removed & minor toning. [Edward Hamersley Snr arrived 28/2/1837 on the "Shepherd", returned to England 1843, arrived again 15/1/1850 on the "Arcadia". His numerous properties included "Pyrton". He was an MLC 1857-65. His daughters were Margaret b.1844 & Flora b.1862]

ALBANY: 1890 OHMS cover to Victoria with 1d pair tied by 'ALBANY/AP12/90/WA - KGS' duplex & very late usage of the undated oval 'POST OFFICE/[crown]/ALBANY/WESTERN AUSTRALIA' h/s (#PO1) at lower-left presumably signifying on Post Office business, minor blemishes. [Late usage unrecorded in PMI. From 20/4/1894 all OHMS mail was required to bear a frank stamp. Mogens Juhl's similar unstamped cover from the same month is the only other example recorded by us. It sold for $687 (1993)]
