BAHAWALPUR: 1941 (Aug) OBGS cover with 'Household Minister/Bahawalpur Government' imprint at lower-left & embossed crest in blue on the flap, by air to the Amir of Bahawalpur in Iraq with Indian 3a 4a 6a & 1r tied to the reverse by superb 'ALHILAL KANGRA VALLEY' cds, registration label and triangular 'PASSED/BY/CENSOR/' h/s on the face, 'BASE AIR POST DEPOT' & 'C-BASE POST OFFICE/REG' b/s both used at Basra. A lovely item. [The ruling family had a summer residence in India's Kangar Valley & the current Amir was born there in 1946. A similar cover sold for $747 in our "Hyphasis" sale on 8/10/2005]
