JAMBOREES: 1948 Jamboree Wonga Park single-volume collection with a study of the 2½d stamp, a cover signed by Owen Manley (Frank Manley's son & the model for the stamp), slogan cancels, publicity label sheet of 12, Jamboree cloth badge, several different Jamboree PPCs, and an array of commemorative covers including scarce types by S Mitchell (WA), JA Mitchel (Vic), I Challis, Tom Woodger, Rex Bodin etc. (Qty 80+ items)
JAMBOREES: 1952 Pan-Pacific Jamboree Greystanes collection with 3½d maroon three blocks of 4 affected by a thread having adhered to the sheet, Jamboree Opening Day cover & aerial photograph of the opening ceremony, Jamboree cloth badge, partly-handpainted cover by Eric Ogden, another handpainted with 'GREYSTAINS' error, other covers by Arthur Bergen, Bob Haslem, Rex Bodin & ACM Guthrie etc, Bank of NSW PPC, etc. (Qty 50 items)

AUSTRALIA - VICTORIA: c.1910 WR Lidston (Bairnsdale) complete set of 12 tinted views of the Bairnsdale district including "Bairnsdale Rowing Club", "Steamer leaving for Cunninghame" (name changed to Lakes Entrance 1/1/1915), "Eagle Point Bay" etc, unused; also the original packet (defective). FIJI: Three VERY early cards "Glimpse of Leonka Harbour" [sic] to Germany June 1899 at 2½d letter rate; "Andi Thakombau" & "Andi Kuila" to Germany Aug 1900 at 1½d postcvard rate; & Hedemann & Co Levuka "A View of Suva Harbour & SS Rockton" & "King Thakombau" unused. Rare trio. (Qty 3)
MALTA: 1915 St John Ambulance chromolitho card of nurse attending to wounded soldiers, to GB with scarce franking of KGV ¼d strip of 4. Gorgeous!

1914 (Sep 18) cover to the USA with Kangaroo 1d red Coil Strip of 3 (with the characteristic trimmed perfs at right) tied by 'QUEENSCLIFF' cds, red/white 'OPENED BY/CENSOR' label, toning/staining. A very rare usage. [The sender presumably had a supply of coil stamps with him & used a strip of 3 rather than source a ½d to make up the correct 2½d rate. With the enclosed PPC "Ballarat YMCA Field Service Equipment Queenscliff 1914", faults on the reverse] (Qty 2 items)

PRISONERS OF WAR: real photo PPCs (a couple are photos only) of German POWs in various Camp theatrical productions highlighted by the remarkable quality of the costumes, also the programme for 1918 (March) production of "Rosenmontag" including a photo of the cast & crew; plus a badly damaged photo of two officers & 18 soldiers - a dissolute crew - with non-contemporary caption "Liverpool Camp". (Qty 16 items)
TASMANIA - Postal History
1908 PPC to the USA with unframed 31mm 'MONEY ORDER OFFICE/20NOV1908/+HOBART+' cds - not previously seen by us - in blue at upper-left, 1d only tied by Hobart cds, endorsed "T/10c", US 'Due 2 Cents' h/s & unusual 'INS POSTAGE/...' cds in violet partly obscured by Postage Due 2c.
AUSTRALIAN: a PPC of the "Aurora" also from the first mail, to Sydney with Tasmanian 1d tied by one of three fine to superb strikes - one on the reverse - of the Macquarie Island "penguin" cachet, superb Hobart transit cds, minor blemishes on the viewside. Marjorie Wharton states: "The very few examples of this card...seen have all been used on the Expedition". [The message is signed "George Dovers", the Expedition's cartographer. Kevin Dwyer's similar PPC with the 'ANTARCTICA' cachet sold for $5290 at our auction of 13/9/2008]
