SIX PENCE - IMPERFORATE: 6d grey-black SG 19, margins just clear to good, a very minor tonespot at upper-right, unused, Cat 6000. Rare. Ex RB Yardley. RPSofL Certificate (1944) as the then SG 17A. [Our vendor considers this to be a "black-bronze". There are faint traces of gilding metal, by the presence of which Dr Cecil Walkley distinguished the "bronze" shades from the ungilded "grey-black" shades. However, this is likely to be a contentious point in respect of this stamp. Both shades are catalogued at 6000 by Gibbons]
