PRESENTATION STAMPS: V/Crown 2/- brownish red/yellow & £1 orange BW #W66ba, and Crown/A ½d 4d & 5/- all perforated 'OS', all CTO with an unidentified cds probably of the Melbourne GPO (the 'O' is obvious on all stamps; a couple also show fragments of a final 'E'), large-part o.g. Superb & rare! Believed to be from a presentation set for which there is no archival evidence.

FOUR PENCE - IMPERFORATE: 4d blue with 'N' of 'PENCE' with Thin Left Leg & Tilted to Right SG 3n  with 3mm Imperial puncture, margins close to good, light 15-bars '1' cancel of Perth largely clear of the variety, Cat £1300. [This variety occurs once in the sheet of 240]

IMPERIAL PUNCTURES: Neatly presented group with 3mm Puncture 1854-55 4d & 1/- and 1860 2d all with full margins, 1861 Intermediate Perf 6d, Perf 14 at Somerset House 4d, Clean-Cut Perf 14-16 6d & 1/-, Rough Perf 14-16 1d & 6d, No Wmk 6d both shades, Crown CC Perf 12½ to 1/-; and 4mm Puncture Perf 14 at Somerset House 2d x2 & 4d, No Wmk 1d carmine pair, 1d carmine-lake strip of 3 & 6d, and Crown CC Perf 12½ to 1/-, condition variable but many are fine. PERFORATED 'WA': Neatly presented collection with mint including ½d block of 9, 2d yellow block of 4, 3d 4d & 9d pairs etc, used including DLR 3d to 1/- plus 3d block of 6 (a very scarce multiple), and V/Crown range with watermark orientation noted & including 1d & 2d both with 'WA' Double, 2/- pair & Watermark Sideways, 2/6d x2, 5/- both dies plus 'WA' Sideways both dies, 10/- 'WA' upright & sideways, generally fine to very fine. An unusual opportunity. (Qty 71)

PERFORATED 'OS': the companion used range including DLR 3d to 1/- and W[crown]A 6d & 1/-; V/Crown 5d (very scarce), 9d block of 4 (a very scarce multiple), 2/- x3 (one with the Watermark Sideways), 2/6d, 5/- both dies & 10/-; Crown/A 8d, generally fine to very fine, Cat $1850+ plus the pre-1901 issues. PERFORATED 'OS': 1905-12 Crown/A group including 1d with the Watermark Upright, 3d three shades (one **), 4d four shades, 5d three shades - one with no gum - including the 5d olive-green (noted in the ACSC as being "very rare"), 6d, 9d three shades, 1/- & the rare 5/- Die II (superb!), generally fine to very fine, Cat $1800+ plus a premium for the shades. PERFORATED 'OS': Crown/A Perf 12.4 1d rose-red with the Watermark Sideways BW #W14A marginal block of 13 (5x3, less the first two units) from the base of the sheet, some creasing, unmounted. Unlisted & rare. [The ACSC states that "OS punctures are found only in the rose-red shade with watermark upright, and are very scarce"]

WESTERN AUSTRALIA - Postal History
1873 OHMS cover to Perth franked 2d yellow with 4mm Imperial Puncture (corner fault at upper-right) tied by 15-bars '14' cancel of 'NEWCASTLE' (cds alongside), both postmarks light but clear, Perth arrival b/s, docketing on the face "Receipt from Mr Clifton...", a couple of minor repaired tears. Pope & Reynolds Census #3 of only six recorded covers.
1892-1910 "dead" letters with oval 'INSPECTOR DEAD LETTER OFFICE' d/s in violet (rare; in use for one month only), with 'INSPECTOR' removed in blue & in red-purple, one with 5d perf 'WA', & one other, a few minor faults. (Qty 5)
