FOUR PENCE - IMPERFORATE: PIN-PERFORATED: 4d blue (deep shade) with 'T' of 'POSTAGE' Shaved to a Point at Foot SG 3d(var), pin-perforations on all sides well clear of the design, minor thin at the base, 15-bar '18' of Bunbury in blue, Cat £1000++. Rare. Ex Dr Cecil Walkley. Unlisted by Gibbons but mentioned in a footnote below SG 6a: we urge the editor to add these rare stamps to the main listing.̃̃The pin-perforating was almost certainly effected at Bunbury. All of the few examples we have seen have been similarly cancelled. Dr Cecil Walkley also had a pin-perforated 1860 2d vermilion similarly cancelled at Bunbury. This is a more attractive and better centred stamp than the example - without a listed Transfer Variety - that sold for $1035 at our auction of 19/11/2011.

ONE SHILLING - IMPERFORATE: 1/- salmon SG 4, margins just touched - at base - to large except at the top where there is a minor intrusion into the design, minor Pre-Printing Paper Fold, neat void grid cancel in black, Cat £4000. ONE SHILLING - IMPERFORATE: 1/- an unusual red-brown shade that is not deep enough to be SG 4a & not pink enough to be SG 4, margins just clear - at left - to good, Pre-Printing Paper Fold, neat void grid cancel. [It has often been observed that many sheets of the lithographed Swans showed significant shade variations within the sheet. It may well be that this stamp is an over-inked "salmon". Whatever the case. it is certainly an unusual shade]

ONE SHILLING - IMPERFORATE: 1/- pale brown SG 4c horizontal pair in a deep shade, margins close to good, unused, Cat £900+. [By definition, this deep shade can hardly be characterised as "pale" brown. However, it is more akin to the pale brown than the red-brown of SG 4a]
