WESTERN AUSTRALIA - 1857-59 Hillman Lithographs
SIX PENCE - IMPERFORATE: 6d grey-black SG 19, margins just touching to close, unused, Cat £6000. Rare. RPSofV Certificate (2012).
SIX PENCE - IMPERFORATE: 6d grey-black SG 19, margins just clear to good, a very minor tonespot at upper-right, unused, Cat £6000. Rare. Ex RB Yardley. RPSofL Certificate (1944) as the then SG 17A. [Our vendor considers this to be a "black-bronze". There are faint traces of gilding metal, by the presence of which Dr Cecil Walkley distinguished the "bronze" shades from the ungilded "grey-black" shades. However, this is likely to be a contentious point in respect of this stamp. Both shades are catalogued at £6000 by Gibbons]
SIX PENCE - IMPERFORATE: 6d grey-black SG 19, margins clear to good, deep shade, void grid cancel, Cat £550. Bernard & Pascal Behr Certificate (2006).
SIX PENCE - IMPERFORATE: 6d grey-black SG 19, margins just touching - at base - to large with a fragment of the adjoining unit above, 15-bars '8' cancel of Fremantle, Cat £550. Superb!
