1919 parcel tag to "General Hospital/Rockhampton" with 2˝d Roo & 5d KGV both perf 'OS' tied by Brisbane cds, rare red & black/white 'BRISBANE/Defence Dept' registration label (not previously seen by us), readdressed to the Criterion Hotel at Rockhampton, then endorsed "Try Yeppoon" with 'YEPPOON' arrival b/s, rather knocked about but a rare survivor. [According to Post Office Regulations - not seen for the WWI period - the lowest cost for a parcel was 6d & registration was 3d. This article was clearly posted at concessional rates that applied to the mailing of effects of service personnel. Based on other similar items seen by us, we believe that the parcel rate was 3d per unit of weight x2 + 1d registration + ˝d war tax]
