1913 (Dec) registered use of American 2c Envelope uprated with 1c 2c & 10c tied by undated Pittsburgh cancels, light but obvious strike of the scarce 'HM CUSTOMS/PASSED/PERTH' cachet in rosine on the face, a little soiled. [Very early in World War I, the Customs h/s was used as a censor marking: only three examples recorded]

1919 parcel tag to "General Hospital/Rockhampton" with 2d Roo & 5d KGV both perf 'OS' tied by Brisbane cds, rare red & black/white 'BRISBANE/Defence Dept' registration label (not previously seen by us), readdressed to the Criterion Hotel at Rockhampton, then endorsed "Try Yeppoon" with 'YEPPOON' arrival b/s, rather knocked about but a rare survivor. [According to Post Office Regulations - not seen for the WWI period - the lowest cost for a parcel was 6d & registration was 3d. This article was clearly posted at concessional rates that applied to the mailing of effects of service personnel. Based on other similar items seen by us, we believe that the parcel rate was 3d per unit of weight x2 + 1d registration + d war tax]

A remarkable item.

1932 cover with superb embossed crest of the Western Australian Government Railways in red on the flap, to Darwin with scarce franking of 3d Airmail Type B perf 'OS' (Cat $500 on cover) + KGV 2d optd 'OS' tied by Perth cds, Brisbane transit & 'DARWIN NT/AUSTRALIA' arrival b/s. [There was no all the way air route from Perth to the NT, so the cover was sent east via Adelaide, Sydney (?) & Brisbane to connect with the Qantas feeder service to Darwin. The rate was 2d postage + 3d internal air supplement, regardless of the distance travelled]

1932 (Nov) triple-rate cover to Singapore with KGV 2d vertical strip of 3 tied by two superb strikes of the straight-line 'Nieuw-Holland' ship's cancel & fine 'SOERABAJA' cds alongside. Ex Kevin Nelson. [The addressee, Oscar Blau, was for many years the Sydney agent for Eau de Cologne 4711. During World War I he was interned as an "enemy alien" at Liverpool German Concentration Camp where he collected covers from the inmates there & from other camps. The "Oscar Blau Hoard" of POW & civilian internee mail was discovered only in 1995, and remains one of the most important finds of Commonwealth Period postal history]
