c.1870 (?) Torres Strait Settlement 4c to 36c complete (missing the 2c brown), the 4c is marginal, the 16c & 36c have one straight edge, unused. Very scarce "phantom" issue.
The Torres Strait labels offered here are all part of the "Brussels Find": see our auction #180 of 7/5/2013. . Most of these labels were stuck fast in a stiff paper "pancake". Some had been damaged as a result of a misguided attempt to separate them: they have been discarded. As a result of being soaked, most of the labels now have no gum. Remarkably, not a single example of the 2c brown was included in the find.
c.1870 (?) Torres Strait Settlement 4c to 36c complete, the 4c 16c & 24c are marginal, the 36c has a straight edge at the base, unused.
c.1870 (?) Torres Strait Settlement 4c to 36c complete corner blocks of 4 with straight edge at the top (8c & 16c) or at the base, the last 36c unit has a significant repaired tear, unused. [This is the only "set" of blocks of 4 in the Find]
c.1870 (?) Torres Strait Settlement 4c ultramarine complete sheetlet of 20 (4x5; missing the lower-left corner unit) with straight edges at the top & the base, a couple of minor blemishes, unused. [We expect this is the first time that the sheet format of these issues has been recorded. Of the 4c, a single, blocks of 4 12 & 15, and one similar sheet - also missing one unit - are yet to be offered]
c.1870 (?) Torres Strait Settlement 8c orange block of 15 (3x5; missing the left-hand column) with straight edges at the top & the base, the last unit badly defective, unused. [Ten examples of the 8c - in singles & pairs - are yet to be offered]
c.1870 (?) Torres Strait Settlement 16c green complete sheetlet of 20 (4x5; missing the upper-left corner unit) with straight edges at the top & the base, the seventh unit with a major repaired tear, unused. [Of the 16c, nine units plus a block of 15 are yet to be offered]

AUSTRALIA: 1915 photographic 1d 'SOUVENIR/WAR STAMP' based on the KGV 1d, four different of young women affixed to a single piece (175x125mm) with their (?) initials below, faults but the "stamps" are sound.
AUSTRALIA: 1919 'FIRST/AERIAL POST/ENGLAND-/AUSTRALIA' label in deep blue with full margins, exceptional centring, very lightly mounted in the margins only, the stamp itself with full unmounted o.g., pencilled guarantee "David Field Ltd" in the margin at the base, AAMC Cat $18,000 (mounted). A gem!
AUSTRALIA: c.1920 PALS 'WING-COMMANDER GOBLE' in red, well centred, unused.
