C of A - Flight Covers
1937 (Sep 22) Sydney-Thursday Island cover AAMC #766a flown and signed by Davis & Duryea on the first leg of their flight to Papua and New Guinea in a Sikorsky amphibian owned by Papuan Oil Development Co. [12 flown to the island].

VICTORIA - Postal History
1860 mustard-coloured envelope to New York "Pr Columbian/via England" with Emblems 2d brown-lilac Horizontally Laid Paper SG 69 (folded over top of the envelope) plus Octagonal 1/-, very fine oval 'B MORTIMER & SON/...' cachet at upper-left (affected by a repaired opening tear), BN '1' & Melbourne b/s of JA17/60, London cds oif MR12/60 & New York cds of 28/3/1860. Despite the repaired tear, this is a most appealing cover. Carried per "Columbian", departed Melbourne 18/1/1860, arrived Port Louis 6/2/1860, arrived Suez 25/2/1860; then per "Pera", departed Alexandria 27/2/1860, arrived Southampton 11/3/1860. This was the second-last P&O homeward voyage via Mauritius. Ex Ken Barelli.

BAHAMAS: 1859-60 No Wmk Imperf 1d reddish lake on Thick Opaque Paper SG 1, good even margins, a little soiled, Cat £2250.

BAHAMAS: 1882-98 De La Rue 1d to £1 (hinge remainder) SG 47-57 mint plus shades including 1d pale rose & 2½d dull blue, used to 5/- x2 plus £1 with a fake cancel, also 1/- SG 38 used, SG 39 used x5 & 39b mint x4 etc, a few blemishes but generally fine to very fine, Cat £2000+ (not including the "used" Pound).

BAHAMAS: SPECIAL DELIVERY: 1916 5d black & orange SG S1 complete sheet of 60 (12x5) with complete Plate number '2' at lower-left, a few units creased & a few minor blemishes still a very fresh & attractive sheet, Cat £450++ (mounted).
BAHAMAS: POSTMARKS: Selection of mostly part-strikes but including superb 1892 & 1917 'BIMINI', very fine 1896 'GREEN TURTLE CAY', very fine 1890 'HOPE-TOWN', early 'INAGUA', complete 1953 rubber 'MAN-OF-WAR CAY', large-part 1895 'MASTIC-POINT', superb 1936 'ROLLEVILLE', etc.
BAHAMAS: Bulging album of QEII philatelic covers 'ABRAHAM BAY' to 'WILLIAMS TOWN' with numerous tiny POs & great names including 'BINNACLE HILL', 'CHEROKEE SOUND', 'DEADMANS CAY', 'DEVILS POINT', 'GREAT GUANO CAY', 'JAMES CISTERN', 'TRUE BLUE', 'WEMYSS BIGHT' etc, many rubber datestamps including 1962 'BIMINI' in blue, 1962 'FOX TOWN', 1963 unframed 'INAGUA' in blue, 1961 'KEMPS BAY' (very worn), 1940s 'LANDRAIL POINT', 1962 'McKINNONS' (LRD), 1970 'MARSH HARBOUR' (commercial), 1963 'PIRATES WELL' (LRD), 1961 'SAVANNAH SOUND' (with Inverted Dateline; unrecorded by Proud), 1963 superb 'SNUG CORNER', 1961 superb 'SWEETINGS CAY', 1961 superb 'UPPER BOGUE' & a couple of irregular oval types, condition of covers & strikes is a bit mixed but most are fine to superb.
