Surface mail covers with KGV Heads SMult Wmk Perf 13½x12½ ½d orange x9 including 1½d postcard rate on two advertising postcards, 1½d Empire rate to Canada, 1½d foreign postcard rate to USA, 1936 2d Empire rate to Barbados (with cds & machine arrival b/s) & block of 10 for the 5d internal airmail rate (philatelic), etc; and CofA Wmk 1d green x7 including 1d printed matter rate wrapper, 2d sample rate on samples envelope, 1d per 10oz internal newspaper rate with attractive "Table Talk" banner, perf 'OS/NSW' on postcard, perf 'T' used in lieu of postage due on OHMS lettersheet etc; condition generally fine to very fine. Ex Rodney Perry, mostly on his exhibit pages; also KGV Star 1½d black-brown Envelope for Shire of Dandenong (defective) & 'TWO/PENCE' on Oval 1½d red Envelope (creased).
1930s bundle of printed matter & letter rate covers mostly with commercial imprints of NSW firms with good Newcastle & District content, a few illustrated types, some postmark interest, minor duplication, generally fine to very fine.
Cherry box of KGV Period covers mostly with Heads frankings, generally a bit pedestrian but with numerous better items notably advertising covers including two beautiful Alpha Fishing Tackle types, early slogan cancels & a few meters, datestamps including 'COWWAR/VIC' (error for 'COWWARR'), Postal Stationery including 1930 1½d Postal Card unusually uprated for internal airmail & 'TWO/PENCE' on Oval 1½d Envelope unused, many used to the United States, condition variable but generally fine to very fine.

Handy bundle of mostly commercial airmail covers including 1935 with Macarthur Dark Hills 2d pair, 1933 to Peru from the Peruvian Consul-General, 1935 to London with KGV 1/4d, 1935 to Malacca with 9d Roo & 1959 to North Borneo, etc, generally fine to very fine.

1904-07 three Tatts covers to Hobart with Postage Dues Blank Tablet 2d x2 or 4d & 1906 PPC from GB with 'ALDERNEY' (Channel Islands) cds & Filled Tablet 1d tied by 'EDITHBURGH/SA' squared-circle.
1913 commercial cover with Norddeutscher Lloyd imprint & endorsed "Abs Felix Fabian/Rabaul, Deutsch Neuguinea" both on the flap, to Germany apparently carried per favor to Fremantle where WA 2d & ½d Roo added and tied by Fremantle machine cancel, filing holes at left. Unusual.
1913-14 combination frankings comprising 1) PPC to Germany with NSW ½d & 1d Roo; 2) cover to Germany with Victorian ½d & 1d Roo pair; and 3) philatelic cover with Tasmanian ½d & ½d Roo
1914 usage of large-part black/red parcels label with rare franking of First Wmk Large 'OS' 9d strip of 4 & Small 'OS' 4d orange pair tied by 'PARCEL POST/BRANCH/16SEP14/BRISBANE' cds, small black/white 'BRISBANE' parcel post label, a couple of minor perf faults, stamps Cat $1000+. The rate of 3/8d paid for an interstate parcel weighing between 6 & 7Lb (pounds). [The ACSC prices the 4d on cover at $1000; the 9d on cover is unpriced]
1914 commercial cover to Townsville with a very well centred Kangaroo 4d orange tied by very fine 'GOOMBUNGEE/QUEENSLAND' cds, scarce red & black/white registration label, toning mostly on the reverse.
1915 (Mar 30) PPC to the Red Cross in Switzerland with ½d Roo & KGV 1d red x2 tied by scarce Warwick (Qld) machine cancel, 'PASSED CENSOR/30MR15/BRISBANE' cds in red, two strikes of a very small & very rare 'UNDELIVERABLE.' h/s (26x2mm) in rosine & another strike of the Censor cds of 15AP15 also in rosine. Unusual.
1917-25 commercial covers 1) 1917 to Switzerland with 2d Roo & ½d KGV; 2) 1918 to New York with 2½d Roo plus KGV ½d x3 & 1d tied by 'LATE/FEE - STOCK EXCHANGE/VIC' duplex; 3) 1917 to Switzerland with KGV 1d red single & block of 4, 'PINARO0/SA' squared-circles; 4) 1924 to Germany with 6d brown Roo, Horsham (Vic) cds & red/white registration label; & 5) 1925 to New Zealand with 6d brown Roo & KGV 1d green, Tanunda (SA) cds & red/white registration label.
1922 double-rate cover with printed "No Dutiable Matter whatever is contained in this letter", to Pennsylvania "per SS Makura" with scarce franking of Third Wmk Roos 6d milky greyish blue (Cat $500 on cover) tied by very fine 'SPECIAL/=SYDNEY=' cds. The rate was 4d for the first ounce + 2d for each successive ounce.
1924 cover to Illinois with KGV 1½d green & Melbourne cds, boxed 'MUTILATED BY/STAMP CANCELLING/MACHINE' h/s & damage at right repaired with pieces of selvedge from a 1d violet sheet. The rate was 3d for the first ounce + 1½d for each successive ounce.
1932 Sydney Harbour Bridge Souvenir Telegram with message "Greetings on Opening of Bridge" & SE Pylon cds of 19MR32, plus the matching envelope (flap removed) similarly cancelled.

1933 (May 26) long Vacuum Oil cover (266x114mm) to Burma with 6d brown Kangaroo 'VOCo' perfin & KGV 1d green tied by 'LATE FEE/SPENCER ST VIC' cds, TAA airmail label, 'RANGOON/16JUN33' arrival b/s, vertical fold at left. The rate was 2d per ounce Empire rate + 3d per ½oz domestic airmail supplement + 1d late fee. The postage paid does not conform to this rate structure & the 21 days transit time probably indicates carriage by sea at 2d per ounce x3 + 1d late fee = 7d.
1933 commercial cover with Hudson Motor Car Co imprint & typed endorsement "By SS Maunganui", to the company's Detroit HQ with KGV 1d green x4 paying 3d rate + 1d late fee tied by the scarcer 30mm 'POSTED SHIP SIDE/SYDNEY' cds.
1936 philatelic cover from New York USA to Victoria "Via Zeppelin Von Hindenburg" with Times Square cancels & large Lakehurst Zeppelin cachet in purple at left, Melbourne arrival b/s of 30MY36. Very scarce. [Rodney Perry's commercial cover from the same flight sold at auction for $5290. It was noted there that the covers were carried from London per Imperial Airways " Aurora" which developed engine trouble at Penang. A similar cover sold at our auction on 6/3/2015 for $1521]
1938 Tait Brothers airmail cover to Germany with rare franking of CofA Wmk 10/- grey & pink (Cat $1750 on cover) & QM 1d green for the late fee tied by 'SHIP MAIL ROOM/MELBOURNE' cds, Athens transit b/s & Greek Currency Control cachet on the face, minor blemishes. The rate was 1/6d per half-ounce so this item is either overpaid (1/-) or, less likely, underpaid 6d. [NB: there was no airmail cds at the Melbourne GPO until 1939]

BOER WAR: 1902 OAS cover endorsed "CW St John Clarke Lt/4th Battn ACH" to Victoria with 'NEWCASTLE/NATAL' cds & '1D' tax h/s, unusually routed via Sydney (b/s) where 'MORE TO PAY/1D' h/s added, at Melbourne (b/s) 'T1D'-in-oval h/s added, Victoria Postage Due 1d tied by 'HAWTHORN' arrival cds. Very scarce: the Australian Commonwealth Horse arrived in South Africa only in April 1902 & hostilities ceased on 31/5/1902.
