Echunga (2): 'ECHUNGA/SP9/1859/=SOUTH-AUSTRALIA=' light but clear strike & fine '50' cancel on Rouletted 2d on outer to "Lapton (?)/Callington", very fine to superb transit b/s of 25mm 'HAHNDORF/S-A' (rated RRR), 'KANMANTOO/=SOUTH-AUSTRALIA=' (RRR) & 25mm 'NAIRNE/S-A' (RRR, with a second strike on the face), minor blemishes. Rated RRRR. [Adelaide Hills]
Morphett Vale (1): 'MORPHETT-VALE/("Jan") 21/1858/-SOUTH-AUSTRALIA' superb strike and '66' cancel on Adelaide Printing 2d (3½ margins), GPO arrival b/s. Rated RRRR.
1857-69 Numeral Watermarks 1d pale red-brown SG 26 horizontal strip of 6, margins largely complete but slightly cut-into in a couple of places, six good to very fine strikes of BN '91' of Torquay, Cat £210+. A very scarce & attractive multiple.
VICTORIA - Postmarks
Modest collection of Barred Numerals with some very fine strikes & complete duplexes, completely unchecked by us, plus a useful range of 1860s-1870s Melbourne duplexes on pair or on piece. With an almost as-new copy of "The Numeral Cancellations of Victoria" by Hugh Freeman & Geoff White.

BARRED NUMERALS: Attractively presented collection in four large albums covering 1200+ of the 2100 post offices, numerous offices with multiple types including a good range of scarcer duplex cancels, some coloured strikes, many fine to superb strikes throughout but care is required because optimism has won over scepticism in many cases. Better items include Rated RRR '105' of Goldborough, Type 7 '148', duplex '268' (numeral only), Type 1 '289', Type 3 '526', Type 1 '545', '549', '601', '914', Type 2 '1056', Type 1 'M96', 'MC/8', Type 2 '1238', 'MCCCC/77', 'MCCCC/85', duplex '1533' (numeral only), Type 1 '1760' in violet & a superb '1883'; and RRRR Type 1 '103' (light but obvious), '763' (?), Type 2 '1048', Type 1 'MC/16', Type 1 'MC/24', superb Type 1 'MCCCC/31' & '1935'. A good basis for expansion.

Handy collection on Hagners with a selection of Barred Numerals including 15-bars '3' on very fine Penny Black, '20' of Champion Bay, '22' of Blackwood & '36' of Ludlow, 12-bars '25' of Lockeville & '27' of Bannister, datestamps including double-oval 'POST & TEL.../BAMBOO...' in violet, 'BLACK RANGE', 'DUKETON'. 'HANNANS' 1895 usage at Kalgoorlie etc, good range of KGV era markings including 'WEST CLAREMONT', also 1950s 'KENT RIVER' in violet. Inspection is sure to be rewarded.

Australind: 15-bars '17' of 'AUSTRALIAND' (cds alongside) on Rotophot Postcard to "Preston/Nr Donnybrook". Unlisted in the Pope & Reynolds Census.
Bridgetown: 15-bars '10' & 'BRIDGETOWN/AP23/94/WA' cds both light but obvious strikes on cover to "Portland/Victoria" where redirected to South Australia with seven backstamps, minor blemishes. Not included in the Pope & Reynolds Census of ten covers. This would be the fourth-earliest.
Cheangwa: Void Grid '15' light strike on New Colours 1d pink SG 103 (issued 1888). Originally allocated to Champion Bay, renamed Geraldton 5/6/1874. Re-allocated to Cheangwa PO 7/1/1878; replaced by Murgoo 1889.
MALAY STATES: Covers from Great Britain to Singapore comprising 1) 1857 with 1d & 4d x2, very fine; 2) 1866 to a passenger aboard "The Barque Oriental" with 4d & 1/-, faults; and 3) 1885 with scarce franking of 5d green & very fine 'SINGAPORE/PAID/OC 8 85' arrival b/s, a few faults.
