STRAITS SETTLEMENTS: 1938 commercial usage of Straits KGVI 15c Registration Envelope size G with KGVI 2c green pair & 8c grey tied by three of four light but fine strikes of the very scarce 'RAFFLES INSTN/31MR/1938/SINGAPORE' cds (Proud #3; rated 2250 points) & 'Raffles/Singapore' registration label, to Kentucky with superb 'LOUISVILLE, KY/REGISTERED' arrival b/s in purple, minor opening defect on the reverse otherwise very fine. Raffles Institution is the oldest - established in 1823 by ‹Sir Stamford Raffles - and most prestigious schools in Singapore. The school's post office opened 12/8/1929, replacing the Raffles Hotel PO. [A very desirable item for the postmark, postal stationary, registered mail, or education enthusiast]

REGISTRATION ENVELOPES: Kedah 15c Sheaf of Wheat overprinted 'DAI NIPPON/2602' Tan #RE11 with 5c orange similarly overprinted x4 tied by light but very fine undated rubber 'ALOR STAR/KEDAH/2602/YUBIN KYOKU' cancellation (Proud #JD2) in blue, another strike ties the 'Alorstar' registration label to the reverse where there is also a light strike of the boxed 'A.R.' cachet - very worn - in blue, Japanese "chop" in violet, red wax seals on both sides, commercially used to Penang.
