Large folio album with an array of KGV imprint pairs & blocks of 4 to 4d olive plus complete sheets of 1d Engraved with Plate 'No 1' (superb), No Wmk 1d green x2 (one toned) & CofA ½d with 'OS' Overprint (CTO, significant perf splitting), also 1927 Canberra complete sheet, WA Centenary Plate Number blocks set of 12, and complete sheets of the 1912 'ONE PENNY' on Tasmania 2d (with Monograms) & Victoria 2d, some faults but all units appear to be unmounted (generally hinged in the margins only, if at all). Ex Clive Hodgkinson. Unchecked by us for varieties so careful inspection will be rewarded.
Clive Hodgkinson, a resident of Rochester (Vic), was a major collector during the 1920s and 1930s. He died many years ago & it was believed his collections had been fully disposed of. However, just this year, his daughter decided to sell this last album. Included was a good range of Kangaroo imprint pairs & blocks that are also offered in this sale.

37a 2/- brown with the Watermark Inverted BW #37a, tiny red marks on the face, 'REGISTERED/BRISBANE' cds in blue, Cat $750.

One Penny Green marginal blocks comprising 1) Large Mult Wmk Plate 4 irregular block of 31 with Nick near Top of Left Frame, Neck Flaw, Ferns, 'RA' Joined, Roo's Tongue Out and Harrison Two-Line Imprint, one unit with a tonespot; 2) SMult Perf 13½x12½ Plate 4 block of 45 (12x4, missing the first 3 units) with Retouches to Ferns, 'RA' Joined, Roo's Tongue Out and Run 'N' and Ash Imprint ('N' over 'A') BW #81(4)zd; and 3) ditto, Plate 3 lower-right corner block of 30 (6x5) perf 'OS' with some Misplacement of the Perfins; all unmounted.

Trio of varieties LMult Wmk ½d emerald with Cracked Electro from the Left-Hand Wattles through the Roo's Head BW #65(5)ha, machine cancel partly obscures the variety, a little aged, Cat $600; 2d orange Tin Shed Flaw, horrid centring; and 4d orange with Line through 'FOURPENCE', cds clear of the variety, very fine, Cat $175.

85 1½d brown through to 1½d bright red-brown annotated collection of mostly plated examples mostly mint including many in multiples, numerous unlisted varieties, also singles with the Watermark Inverted & Dry Ink, two Harrison Imprint pairs, booklet pane of 6 with staple-holes in the margin, a few official perfins, generally fine to very fine, some are unmounted, Cat $1600 just for the listed varieties.

89 1½d scarlet annotated group with a page of shades stated to include "pink" & "pale pink", Inverted Watermark x2, Thin Paper x2 (not convincing) & Printed on the Gummed Side BW #89c, generally very fine.
89(U)v 1½d scarlet with Deformed Right-Hand Frame & Diagonal Line from Top of the Distortion to King's Head, cds cancel well clear of the variety. Unlisted in the ACSC. [Leading Penny Halfpenny collector Richard Guy advises he has never seen an example of such distortion]
