TERRITORIES:Photographic Essays by Peter Morriss including PNG 1965 United Nations composite piece with 5d value (similar to issued 6d) and three different 2/3d values side-by-side (two of which are similar to the issued 1/- & 2/- values; the other an unadopted design) and Nauru 1965 Pictorials 3/3d Bird similar to issued stamp but with different inscription format, also PNG, Nauru and Christmas Island 1950s-60s FDCs autographed PE Morriss and issued stamps mounted on pages signed by him, fine condition. Pacific Islands mint comprising Nauru 1916-81 complete simplified, Freighter sets Rough Paper & Surfaced Paper, then ** from 1954 Pictorials; Norfolk Island 1947-81 complete ** including Ball Bay White Paper issues, 10/- Bird 'SPECIMEN' 15½mm Overprint with Broken 'N'; PNG 1952-78 complete ** (ex Dues) including 'SPECIMEN' overprints; Samoa from 1890s Palm Trees, NZ overprints with KGV Two-Perf Pairs, then complete 1921-77 the last few years **, also Germany 'SAMOA' overprint set, Yachts, a few GRI overprints including 2½d No Fraction Bar, many fine but some toning evident so careful inspection required, Cat £3000+.
Five attractive trans-Atlantic pre-stamp/stampless entires with very fine markings (one to Holland), 1863 American Civil War 'CERTIFICATE OF EXEMPTION...ON ACCOUNT OF DISABILITY', Boer War cover from 'PETRUSBURG' to Green Point Prisoners of War Camp, and Australia 7d 'AIR LETTER' with Ungummed Sealing Flap for use in PNG (very fine unused, Cat $500).

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Issued Stamps
Blocks of 4 with some earlier imprint blocks to 3/-, 10/- Rabaul & £1 Queen, £sd Birds, Decimals apparently complete to 1982, all those we checked are unmounted.
1946-48batch of airmail covers to Cuthbert's Misima Goldmine Ltd in Sydney with various Australian adhesives tied by 'SAMARAI' or 'BWAGAOIA' cds, one of the earliest underpaid with Postage Due 3d pair tied by Sydney cds.
1947(Jan 8) Rabaul-Sydney flight cover with the black & blue Qantas label & signed by the pilot "J Bonnington"; also plain typed cover Port Moresby-Rabaul AAMC #P165 with cds of "16JA47" & Rabaul arrival b/s of 17JA47, plus the similar Sydney-Rabaul label (pristine, unmounted). Ex John McNabb: sold at the Prestige auction of 12.10.2012 for $862. [The entire Sydney-Rabaul mail disappeared. Unused vignettes are the only survivors of the flight to Port Moresby. The Port Moresby-Rabaul cover is the only recorded proving cover for the inwards flight. #P165 is not priced & this intermediate is not even listed]

1948-52philatelic covers with Australian stamps tied by cds of all the 44 post offices including name changes operating in TPNG but missing the rare 'SALAMAUA', strikes are generally fine to very fine; also several pages of loose stamps & commercial pieces from the same period.

1994 Cars of our HistoryGraham Wade's design folio with original letters from the PTC, copy letters to the PTC, source materials, rough sketches, set of five watercolour designs on a single piece of artboard (285x128mm) with the proposed values added & the last design noted as "Reserve", designs for FDC & stamp pack, etc.
POSTAL CHARGES:1960 (Mar) 6d with 'IXIXIXIXIX' at the Base on 7½d blue SG D1 block of 12 (6x2) with margins at left & right, well centred, gum toning as is commonly encountered with this issue, unmounted, Cat £9600+. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2000). A spectacular item. [The only larger multiple recorded by us is a more significantly toned block of 15 that sold at the Mossgreen auction of 30.9.2015 for $6842]
POSTAL CHARGES:1960 (Mar) 6d on 7½d with 'IXIXIXIXIX' at the Base SG D1 marginal example with neat cds of 4MR60, Cat £450. RPSV Certificate (2017).
