1984-88 Marine Life55c with Cyan Printing ('BENNETT'S NUDIBRANCH') Completely Omitted ACSC #1053c (SG 930a) tied to so-called "maximum card" by 'KOOKABURRA SHELL/18JUN1984/Gladstone Qld 4680' cds being the First Day of Issue of the stamp, Cat $2500 (£1500). With a normal stamp for comparison. [The ACSC states that fewer than ten examples have been recorded, all on maximum cards]

1957large printed matter article endorsed "Photos..." sent airmail with 1/- Lyrebird x2 tied by Sydney parcel roller, boxed 'EXCEEDS ("11") OZS/TAX ("12/9d")' below, Postage Due Lined Background 3d x3 & Void Background 1/- pair & block of 10 - a rare franking - tied by three impressions of the rare Darwin parcel roller, Sydney GPO 'TORN IN TRANSIT' tape at the top, roughly opened with repaired tears clear of the stamps. Impressive. [The Darwin parcel roller is unrecorded by Ed Williams & these are the only impressions we have recorded]
1978-82 Birds usages accumulation with all values represented including single, multiple & mixed frankings, many overseas airmails plus some on postcards & stationery, noted 45c Perf 14 on airmail PPC, illustrated 'tourist' covers, registered & overseas express delivery, a few taxed & OHMS items. Opportunity to form a 'single issue' modern exhibit.

NEW SOUTH WALES
1888-89 Centennial of New South Walesall-different imperforate colour trials on ungummed unwatermarked paper comprising 1d x4, 2d x6, 4d x6, 6d x10, 8d x8, 1/- x6, 5/- & 20/- x10, all but one 2d with full margins, a couple of minor blemishes. Largely complete & colourful array. Most of these are Ex John Bell (NSW). [65 different proofs have been recorded, with between 6 and 12 of each, some of which remain in blocks of 4]

1888-89 Centennial of New South WalesWatermark 'NSW' 2d blue SG 260 upper-left corner block of 12 (6x2) with the Watermark Inverted and 'POSTAGE - TWO PENCE' Imprint at the top, the first and seventh units Imperforate at Left and both additionally with No Watermark, virtually full o.g. with most units being unmounted, Cat £1320++. An unusually large multiple of this underrated stamp and an exceptional specialist piece. Acquired at the Prestige auction of 10.4.2010 for $4370. [Gibbons state that the shade is 'Prussian' blue; this is inaccurate. Gibbons also don't mention the No Watermark error, caused by the watermark being spaced for the significantly larger revenue stamps]

1897(June 10) double-rate cover to Canada "Per Warrimoo" with scarce solo franking of 8d Lyrebird tied by 'REGISTERED/SYDNEY NSW' cds, Vancouver transit & Toronto arrival b/s, minor soiling.
1901OHMS cover to England with very scarce solo franking of 8d Lyrebird tied by Sydney cds, superfluous 'POSTAGE PAID SYDNEY/NSW' cds also on the face, London transit (on the face) in red & 'HULL' arrival b/s, heavy vertical fold doesn't greatly detract. [A similar but very fine cover sold at a Sydney auction in 2007 for $690]

1873(Mar 20) cover to Denmark "via Southampton" with Laureates 6d tied by BN '575' (rated RRR) & 'COCKATOO' cds (the later of only two recorded examples), and DLR 2d pair tied by manuscript "X" cancel, London transit cds of 6JY73 & 'PD' h/s both in red. A very desirable cover to a scarce destination. Ex Max Watson. Cockatoo (1) 1.11.1866; renamed Narrigal 9.12.1874. [Goldmining. Central Highlands: not to be confused with Cockatoo (2) in the Dandenongs]
VICTORIA - Postmarks
Bittern Military PO:'RELIEF/27MR39/No 10.' (LRD) very fine strike on KGV 5d on cover with 'Bittern Military Camp' h/s (inverted) on provisional R label. PO 28.2.1939; closed 27.3.1939. [Mornington Peninsula. WWW state closed 26.3.1939, apparently an error]
Collection on Scott pages with 1854-55 1d 4d & 1/-, Hillman 6d, 1860 6d sage-green, 1861 Perf 14 4d vermilion & Perf 14-16 6d (unused), some useful Middle Period, V/Crown mint or used to £1, Crown/A mint to 5/-, etc, condition variable but most are fine to very fine.
Stockbook with heavily duplicated array of 1d pinks & 2d yellows with many shades, multiples, 'OS' punctures, at least 50 commercial perfins, etc, lots of postmark interest, generally very fine.

1854 Lithographs1/- grey-brown SG 4b, margins close to large, unused, Cat £650.
1861 Perkins BaconIntermediate Perf 14-16 4d vermilion SG 35, perfs at base trimmed clear of the design, unused, Cat £1800. A rare stamp.
1905-12 Crown/AIrregular Compound Perfs 5d olive-green SG 163a Perf 12½x11x12½x12½, undercatalogued at £1800. Believed to be unique. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2014, at which time the stamp was unlisted in Gibbons) states "Genuine in all respects. Great rarity, this being the only example known to me". [The ACSC states in a footnote "...noted in the philatelic literature in 1915, and a used pair [was] offered at auction in 1947. No examples have been seen in recent times..." This is the discovery stamp on which the Gibbons listing is based. It was acquired at a Sydney auction in 2015 for $6900, about double the catalogue value]
POSTAL HISTORY:1907 PPC ('Post Office & Town Hall, Perth') to Queensland with 1d x2 tied by two complete strikes of the South Australian 'POSTED IN/LATE FEE BAG' cachet, couple of minor edge faults.
THEMATICS - BIRDS:Morocco 1992 3fr Pigeon & 3f Vulture Imperforate sheets of 25, unmounted.
Fauna large album of Animals, Birds & Zoos, mostly American with some postmark interest, condition variable.

2010-11mostly oversize philatelic covers with an array of Surcharges on Birds including varieties, plus other issues.
