AUSTRALIAN COLONIES - General
Copper watermark bitson small pieces of dandy roll comprising Victorian V/Crown, Queensland Crown/Q, NSW Small Crown/A, Australian Crown/A Second Wmk & Third Wmk, and GB Crown/GvR, all recessed in a single cardboard mount (254x128mm) with 'EDWIN AMIES & SON/MAIDSTONE' h/s in rosine on the reverse, the mount a bit soiled. [Edwin Amies & Son is still in business in Maidstone (Kent). They are manufacturers, especially of paper-making machinery]
Two cartons of Max Watson's notes re postmarks, perfins, municipalities etc, also photocopies including of his exhibits, etc. No reserve!

1851 Victorian Goverment 'Post Office' Report foolscap 29pp including appendices with a plan of the CBD showing five Letter Carrier Divisions, also with impressions of the seven then-current postmarks including 'FREE/ MELBOURNE' & 'PAID AT/MELBOURNE' both in red & the rare 'MISSENT TO/MELBOURNE'. Historically important.
Large shoebox of mostly post-WWII tourist PPCs from Australia including many fold-out 'wallets', Britain, Europe etc plus some earlier cards, also Royalty etc plus ephemera including newspapers for major events, SPC wall poster, etc, generally very fine.
JAPAN:1908 Visit of the American Fleet private issues x3 & Department of Communications x2, all unused; also two different 1905 passes for British Naval Visit to Japan.

"Missing, Captured, Killed!: Visions & Victims of Mussolini's Wars" attractively presented five-frame Open Class exhibit on double-size pages chronicling the rise & demise of Benito Mussolini. All sorts of interesting material from propaganda PPCs & Postal Cards including laying claim to Malta, to a complete newspaper re the Sinking of the 'Arandora Star'. Also Occupation stamps, 1935 registered cover to Mussolini, POW mail from Italians in North Africa, Camps in East Africa & Australia, Red Cross & Vatican Information Office covers & forms, German FPOs in Italy & mourning cards for German soldiers killed in Italy, undeliverable mail, etc etc etc. Plus an array of back-up material, also some pre-1922 & post-1945 mail.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to develop this from a necessarily superficial 5-frame study into a more well-rounded 8-frame exhibit. It's a great story that deserves further endeavour.

RAILWAY LABELS:Selection of 'New Zealand Railways' ungummed parcel forwarding dockets headed variously 'G 56', 'G56A (Charges To Pay)' or 'L 11' for all different stations, two printed in blue & one in green, unused.

1934(?; could be 1933) 'Souvenir Programme of the Visit of the Southern Cross to Auckland' (285x218mm) featuring the plane on the cover, a brief biography of KingsfordSmith, superb centre-spread of arrival at New Plymouth, itinerary etc, plus adverts including for "The Best Dope in the World", central fold & minor blemishes. Rare.
