C of A - Postal Stationery
Album with Postal Cards KGV Full-Face Coronation x3 unused, Victorian Scenes 'FLINDERS ST MELB' & 'GOLD DIGGERS, VICTORIA' unused, Star 1d red STO for Customs House Sydney x2 used, scenic Letter Cards 1d Fullface x2, Kangaroo x3, Sideface 1d blue 'PERTH ROAD, ARMADALE,WA' (scarce view) & 2d red 'MOSMAN'S BAY', Registration Envelopes mostly used some with added KGV frankings, Wrappers including ½d Kangaroo unused and KGV ½d+½d doubleton used, a few KGVI & QEII Envelopes with some STO, also a few Aerogrammes and two Telegrams (one with envelope), condition mixed but many fine.
POSTAL CARDS:1911 Fullface 1d exhibit pages with P1 the three different Re-Entries of the Banner unused (Cat $500 each), & uprated with SAust ½d to Germany, Coronation types x4 different one uprated with SAust ½d to Germany, New Admonition P23 uprated with SA ½d to Austria and uprated with ½d Roo to Belgium, Hungary & Italy, and a few later issues, generally fine to very fine.
1908 Visit of the American Great White Fleet collection with many American cards of ships of the Fleet & three different with local overprints for ANA Sewing Machines, Victorian Government issues, processions in Sydney & Melbourne, coloured illustrations, Postal Stationery Victoria 1d used & 1½d unused & very fine unused and South Australia 1d unused, plus the unstamped issue 'TO/SYDNEY' used to USA from a sailor quarantined aboard ship (very rare but the stamp has been neatly removed) & 'TO/MELBOURNE' unused, etc, condition variable. A very desirable lot.
- WTP six different coloured illustrations, three unused, two postally used & one used under cover. Beautiful cards. [A full set?]

(Trans-Australian Railway), Tasmania 'TPO' and 'TML' types on Pictorials on picture postcards, Victoria 'DOWN TRAIN/GM4' error (RRR) on 1880 postal card, Western Australia 'TPO EGF/WA' (Eastern Goldfields) on Swan 1d blue postal card, etc, condition variable but many fine.

1890usage of 1888 Jubilee 2d blue postal card inscribed 'For UNITED KINGDOM &c/by the long Sea Route' to Germany with message headed on board "SMS Sophia, Jervis Bay", 1d Centennial added tied by Rays '357' and small part 'TOMERONG' cds alongside, taxed with Sydney 'T' inverted triangle cachet, Bavarian 'KB BAHNPOST' TPO d/s on face, on arrival rated "3d/80" [pfennig] postage due, a few edge faults and aging marks. [The pre-UPU 6d Europe ship letter rate should have been paid as the 2d and 3d treaty postcard rates applied only to items sent to the UK]

17:First Type ('17' 6mm High) of Drysdale very fine strike on 1888 Postal Card with 'DRYSDALE/AU31/--/VICTORIA' cds (no year slug), repaired tear at top. Rated RRR.
36:First Type ('36' 12mm Wide) of Mount Moriac very fine strike on 1882 Postal Card (creased) with superb 21mm 'MOUNT MORIAC' cds alongside & largely superb 'WAURN PONDS' arrival b/s. Rated RR.
545:First Type (non-duplex) largely very fine strike on 1887 Postal Card, 'TOONGABBIE' cds alongside. Rated RRR.
776:Of Lake Town light but obvious strike on 1880 Postal Card, light but obvious 'LAKE TOWN' cds (the earlier of only two recorded strikes, so rated RRRRR) at upper-left. Rated RRRR.
1403:'MCCCC/3' very fine strike on 1d Postal Card (closed spikehole) with largely very fine 'MODEWARRE RY STN/JA27/87/VIC' cds (the later of only two recorded) alongside. A rare 'tie'. Renamed from Lake Town RS 10.3.1885; renamed Buckley's Road 15.8.1890.
1491:'MCCCC/91' on & 'GLENALBYN RY STN/DE19/87/VIC' (ERD) both largely very fine strikes in violet on 1d Postal Card. Rated RR. [Wimmera]

TRAVELLING POST OFFICES:Small box of covers etc with TPO markings including many pre-1890 types & some very fine strikes, noted 'DOWN TRAIN/MG2 - TPO/2' duplex b/s (rated RRRR), condition variable. Ex Max Watson.
TRAVELLING POST OFFICES:Range of 1870s-1900s covers, stationery and picture postcards, mostly used as cancellers but also some transits, some duplication in places, noted 'UP TRAIN/MG7' on PO 'Registered Letters ...' form with '.../MG2' d/s alongside proving connection between these two services, '.../MG8' on Solicitor-General Frank Stamp circular, various octagonal 'DOWN TRAIN' types including 'MG2' (R), 'MG3' (RR), 'GM4' error (RRR) on cover with 2d Bell x2 tied 'TPO/4' obliterator, 'MG6' both types (RR and S), 'MG7' (RRRR), 'MG8' (RRR) and 'MG13' (RRRR), also 'ENGLISH MAIL TPO/IN' on 1908 British PPC, etc, quality of strikes and condition varies but many fine.
TRAVELLING POST OFFICES:Large Octagon 'DOWN TRAIN/MG6/JY27/88/VICTORIA' very fine b/s on 1d Postal Card from 'CHILTERN' down to 'WODONGA' then up to Melbourne (arrival b/s). [NB: Les Molnar states this marking is 25mm wide. In fact, it is 27mm. His illustration is only 23mm wide]
NEW GUINEA - German (Deutsch) New Guinea
1899(Dec 25) commercial usage to Schleswig of Queensland 1d Postal Card ('Arrowroot Field...') with the message headed "Bismarck Archipel/25XII99", ½d stamp removed & replaced at upper-left with German 5pf Mi M46c tied by one of two strikes of the 'KAIS DEUTSCHE/MARINE/SCHIFFSPOST/No 7' cds used aboard SMS 'Möwe', 'BRUNSBUTTELER-/HAFEN' arrival cds on the face, rather aged & spotty still an extraordinary & very rare usage. [Illustrated in 'Papua New Guinea Calling' (Dec 2015)]
PAPUA - 1901-1942 The BNG & Papua Stamps Period
Postal Cards 1d & 1½d, unusually fine for these; & 4d Registration Envelope, minor blemishes, all unused.
Fine used selection with No Wmk 6d SG 3, CC 1/- SG 10, CA ½d brown, etc, Cat £480; also Postal Cards QV ½d green uprated to Belgium (apparently commercial) & to France both in 1898, and 1d red uprated to London in 1892 (commercial; stained on reverse).
