C of A KANGAROOS - 1st Watermark
½d green & 1d red tied to 1d Kangaroo Die II Letter Card 'THE TWO BROTHERS/QUEENSLAND' by two strikes of the recut 'CARLTON/VICTORIA - 538' duplex of JA14/13, the cancel on the ½d with the datehead off the card but the 1d clearly dated, the message within is headed "Brunswick 13 Januar 1913" & states - translated from German - "...This is all of the new stamps that have been issued so far", the card with some 'suntanning' mostly on the reverse, Cat $17,500 as a First Day Cover of the Halfpenny Kangaroo. An important recent discovery. [Our vendor has requested that we offer this item at what we consider to be a VERY conservative estimate]

1984-88 Marine Life55c with Cyan Printing ('BENNETT'S NUDIBRANCH') Completely Omitted ACSC #1053c (SG 930a) tied to so-called "maximum card" by 'KOOKABURRA SHELL/18JUN1984/Gladstone Qld 4680' cds being the First Day of Issue of the stamp, Cat $2500 (£1500). With a normal stamp for comparison. [The ACSC states that fewer than ten examples have been recorded, all on maximum cards]

Eclectic group including 1913 Registration Envelope 4d Roo with early 'R/NSW/Mittagong' red & black label, bundle of 'ADVICE OF DELIVERY' cards with KGVI 3d blue (many with 'A+R' perfins) x35 including a few to New Zealand, range of Colonial/States postal stationery noted NSW 1888 2d postal card 'Specimen' overprint, Victoria Bantam ½d wrapper with 'THE "FREE CHURCH" QUARTERLY' banner, real photo postcards of Marrar NSW Post Office and four other views including 'AL Weale, Outfitter' shopfront (stained), potential postmark interest, condition quite mixed but inspection will reward.
1912social usage of Fullface 1d Letter Card 'SETTLER'S HOME' - margins intact - uprated with Queensland 1d for late fee tied by Qld TPO cds. Unusual domestic combination franking.
1913TH Wood, Seedsman and Nurseryman, Brisbane return-addressed cover with commercial combination franking Kangaroos 1d red and Queensland QV 4d grey tied 'REGISTERED/JU14/13/ROCKHAMPTON' d/s with 'R/ROCKHAMPTON' registration label in red (black numerals) alongside, paying double 1d domestic rate plus 3d registration fee, a few aging marks. States issues remained valid for postage after Commonwealth stamps were introduced in January 1913, but most such usages seen are philatelic.

WORLD WAR II:1943 airmail Hobart to Queensland Construction Camp censored with red/white label (Little #L6-6b) tied by small circular 'CHECKED/BY/ 6/2 ' cachet in violet - unrecorded by Little - on the face, forwarded to "1 Aust Corps/Recp Camp" then to Papua with 'FIELD POST OFFICE/20JE43/019.' b/s, finally 'RETURN TO SENDER/ON/MILITARY BOARD INSTRUCTIONS' cachet in violet on face, some water-staining & other blemishes. Crash mail?

Copper watermark bitson small pieces of dandy roll comprising Victorian V/Crown, Queensland Crown/Q, NSW Small Crown/A, Australian Crown/A Second Wmk & Third Wmk, and GB Crown/GvR, all recessed in a single cardboard mount (254x128mm) with 'EDWIN AMIES & SON/MAIDSTONE' h/s in rosine on the reverse, the mount a bit soiled. [Edwin Amies & Son is still in business in Maidstone (Kent). They are manufacturers, especially of paper-making machinery]
Covers & Postal Stationerygroup noted NSW 1852 with 2d Laureate tied numeral '56' of Singleton and 1854 with 1d Laureate pair and 'ALBURY' crowned oval arrival, Queensland 1912 registered with early 'R/STANTHORPE' red & black label, a few PPCs, advertising covers, TPO cancels and other postmark interest, plenty of unused postal stationery, some Tatts mail, condition variable.
