1963-65 Navigators10/- £1 & £2 King block of 8 - one with a small fault at the base - on unaddressed MSD (Sydney) cover with very fine 'GRANVILLE/13MY65/NSW-AUST' cds, Cat $750+ as singles; the £2 unpriced on cover & exceedingly rare thus. A truly extraordinary item which we expect was for payment of bulk postage or a telephone account. [We can't recall seeing a used block of the £2 this large even off-cover]

Batch of mostly Australian PPCs predominantly Ships including WWI Troop Ships 'Seang Choon', 'Itonus', 'Bakara', 'Persic', 'Mauretania' & 'Omrah', seven advertising cards including Burns-Philp 'Montoro', P&O 'TSS Geelong' & Melbourne Steamship Co 'SS Dimboola', also wharves at Melbourne, Port Melbourne & Williamstown, etc, some British cards, most with ink notations on the reverse; also some covers & Postal Stationery with a few attractive advertising types noted, condition variable. Beautiful group of Ships comprising 'SS Burrawong - Kempsey to Sydney', 'Souvenir of SS Sorrento...', advertising cards for Adelaide Steamship 'MV Moonta', OSN Co 'SS Omrah', Melbourne Steamship Co 'Ocean Excursion Trips/.../SS Sydney', North Coast SN Co 'Orara' & 'Wollongbar', artist card of 'Star of Greece Wrecked at SA 1888', real photo types of wrecks of the 'Burrongwong' (1909) & 'Oona', all very fine; also Burns Philp 'SS Marella' passenger card for voyage to Java & Singapore, minor blemishes. 1908 Visit of the American Great White Fleet collection with many American cards of ships of the Fleet & three different with local overprints for ANA Sewing Machines, Victorian Government issues, processions in Sydney & Melbourne, coloured illustrations, Postal Stationery Victoria 1d used & 1½d unused & very fine unused and South Australia 1d unused, plus the unstamped issue 'TO/SYDNEY' used to USA from a sailor quarantined aboard ship (very rare but the stamp has been neatly removed) & 'TO/MELBOURNE' unused, etc, condition variable. A very desirable lot.
- WTP six different coloured illustrations, three unused, two postally used & one used under cover. Beautiful cards. [A full set?]
2d imperforate colour trial/plate proof in violet (close to the issued shade) on ungummed unwatermarked paper, small thin at upper-rtght. Rare. [We estimate that 1d & 2d proofs exist in a ratio of approximately 100:1. Bernie Manning's example sold at the Prestige auction of 13.6.2009 for $3105] [** The thin spot was not noted in the catalogue. Estimate/reserve reduced to $1200/$900 **]
Beautiful group of Ships including advertising cards for Royal Mail Lines x5, Straits Steamship Co x4, P&O x4 (plus pocket-book 1929 Diary & Almanack), British India SN Co x4 including 'Dunera', Orient-Pacific, Henderson Line, Japanese Lines x3 & Dutch Lloyd, also silks of 'HMT Northland' & for 'RMS Tunisian', real photo of passengers on Oswestry Grange 'In the Indian Ocean/Dec 27th 1906', & a few others; then a batch of modern Ships; unused.
