'OS' OVERPRINTS:Fine collection on Hagners including 1d SG O2 mint, 3d with Red 'OS' SG O4 used (trimmed perfs at right), 6d SG O8 mint, 8d with Red 'OS' SG O9 used, Coin 5/- SG O14 unused (Broken 'S') & used x4 and Perf 11 used x2, 1880 10d SG O18a mint & used, 1882-85 2d 'G Pr O/NSW' Monogram block of 12 (**), 5d SG O29 mint marginal pair Imperf at Base, 8d mint block of 4 & 1/- SG O33b mint strip of 3, Centennial 1d & 2d Triple Monogram blocks of 12, 4d & 6d unmounted blocks of 4, 1890-91 5/- Map Perf 10 used x2 (one with Broken 'O') & Perf 12 mint (Deformed 'S'; Friedl/Bloch Certificate), and 20/- with 'SPECIMEN' Overprint, 2½d Triple Monogram block of 12, Surcharges set mint blocks of 4 & used set, etc, condition variable but generally fine to very fine, Cat £6000+. An excellent basis for serious expansion.

1854(Jan 17) town letter with rare franking of Laureates 1d orange-brown with No Leaves to Right of 'SOUTH' SG 49a (three margins & just shaved at left; Cat £850 x2+ on cover) tied by BN '55' clear of the variety, fine strike of the large 'NEWCASTLE/N S W' cds unusually at upper-left), minor ink-stains well clear of the stamp.
1861cover to "Little Billy Bong/Tarcutta" with rare franking of Perf 12 Diadems 2d with Major Retouch SG 136b x2 (Cat £900 x2+ on cover) & 'REGISTERED' (6d) - all with perfs trimmed on one side - tied by bars cancels of Sydney, oval 'REGISTERED/SYDNEY NSW' d/s in red, 'GUNDAGAI' transit on the face & 'TARCUTTA' arrival b/s, some soiling/staining mostly on the reverse.

BARRED NUMERALS:Two Pence Sydney Views with '2', '3', '9' (Reversed; Rated R), '23', '25' (RRR; tonespots), '26' (Ex "Espana"), '30', '48', '57' (RR), '64' (Reversed '4'), '68', '75' (RR) & '84', plus Victorian Butterfly '37' of the Melbourne GPO, all with full margins, Cat £3500+. A very desirable lot. Ex Michael Haden.
1868-74 Truncated Star2d blue horizontal pair, the right-hand unit being the normal Truncated Star Watermark but the left-hand unit being Small Star Watermark, light Rays '48' cancels. A remarkable instance of a wrong watermark 'bit' being inserted (replaced) on the dandy roll. [Far superior quality to Bernie Manning's similar pair, described as the only known pair outside the Royal Collection, which sold for $1840. Imagine the excitement - and the price - if this was a First Wmk/Second Wmk se-tenant pair of Kangaroos!]
1868-78 Crown/QPerf 12 6d yellow-green SG 106 block of 9 from the top of the sheet, the upper units with Horizontal Watermark Line Only (Crown/Q Omitted), minor stains/tonespots, large-part o.g., Cat £2250++.
1880 Lithographed High Values2/- imperforate plate proof strip of 3 (a rare multiple), apparently unused 2/-, 2/6d x3, 5/-, 10/- bistre x2 & 20/-, a couple with part- to large-part o.g., also apparently postally used 2/-, 10/- bistre & 20/-, some fiscal usages including 2/- with the Watermark Inverted and a set with 'SPECIMEN' h/s, condition variable, Cat £5900 if all genuine, plus the proof strip. Offered strictly 'as is'.
1879-81 First Sidefacesrange on Hagners with imperf plate proofs 1d in brown, 4d in orange & 6d pair in green, Wmk 5 1d unused x2, 2d 'PENGE' & 'QUEENSbAND' and 4d, Burelé Band 1d, Wmk 6 range with unused/mint 1d x15 including 'QOEENSLAND', 2d x4, 4d x3, 6d x5 & 1/- x5, 'Half-penny' on 1d Die II unused & used with blue pencil lines, etc, also 'SPECIMEN' handstamps x17, condition rather mixed, Cat £5000+.

1882-95 Large ChalonsThin Paper Wmk 6 (?) 5/- rose Imperforate single, three large margins with a chunk of the adjoining unit at left & just shaved at the base, tied to thin piece of card by unframed 'GYMPIE' apparently of OC4/92, framed 'REGISTERED/ GYMPIE' cds & blue registration line. Rare: unlisted in Gibbons. [Ken Scudder at page 71 notes that an example of this error was recorded as early as August 1892. This item is endorsed on the reverse "Basset Hull/Johnstone"]
