1910 (c.) 'GRIFFON/Bicyclettes Motocyclettes' lithographic advertising poster by the artist J Illatet, printed by G Elleaume of Paris. Linen-backed, size 160x121cm. One small piece missing, and minor peripheral faults. [The well established Griffon Bicycle Company built their first motorcycles in 1902, using one of their bicycle models as a basis to which they fitted a Zedel engine. Development was rapid, and racing success followed, with one of their machines in 1904 achiving 110 kmh. They lead the field in competition until shortly before WWI, and were acquired by Peugot in 1927, who built motorcycles under the Griffon marque until 1956]
