CARLTON ERN COWLEY: 1918 Leading Goalkicker Medal awarded to his family retrospectively in 2004, engraved on reverse 'Ern C Cowley, Carlton, 34 Goals, Presented July 26 2004'. Together with Invitation to 'Australian Football League, Retrospective Medals, Presentation Dinner', and press clipping re event. [Carlton has had six players win the Leading Goalkicker medal - Mick Grace 1906, Ern Cowley 1918, Horrie Clover 1922, Harry Vallence 1931, Tom Carroll 1961 and Brendan Fevola 2006 & 2009. The similar medal for 1954 sold at auction in 2010 for $18,750]

1885 Innsbruck Sharp-Shooting Gold medal (13.96g, 29mm, 0.986 = 23.6k), 4 Ducat weight and purity, obverse: 'FRANZ:IOS:KAISER: V:OESTER:ETC:G:V:TIROL' surrounding Emperor Franz Joseph I portrait facing right, wearing The Austrian Order of the Golden Fleece, 'A.SCHARF/BUSSON' in small lettering under bust, reverse: 'ZWEITES:OESTER:BVNDES SCHIESSEN:INNSBRVCK:1885' (= Second Austrian National Shooting Innsbruck 1885) surrounding crowned double-head eagle holding sword and orb, Coat of Arms at centre and below, Superb. Rare, this cataloguer has identified only two other gold medals of this type previously offered at auction, gEF.
The first sharp-shooting competition held in Innsbruck was in 1584, growing in popularity the 1855 competition had 2000 competitors (and 12 music bands), rising to 6000 in 1863, by 1885 the number of competitors had risen to 14,800 and the competition attended by Emperor Franz Joseph himself.
