[The stamp appears to have been hinged only in the margin. There is no trace of hinging on the stamp itself but there is some very minor gum disturbance]

[This and the next seven lots have remained in the addressee's family & have never before been on the market. Four of the envelopes bear the family crest 'IN TENEBRIS LUCET FIDO' embossed on the flap, which should help identify the illustrator]

1935 (Nov 18) gold bullion parcel tag with rare and remarkable franking of Silver Jubilee 1d, Undated Airs 5/- & Bulolo £5 emerald tied by 'WAU' cds, registration cachet on the reverse, remarkably fine for such an item. Ex Tom Frommer: acquired at Mossgreen on 4.4.2017 for $3840. [The rate was 2d per 1oz letter rate x157 + 3d per ½oz airmail surcharge x314 + 3d registration + 2d late fee for registered articles = £5/5/1d. The only other £5 franking known to us is a similar large-part tag franked £5/4/3d Ex Ken Kutz, the current whereabouts of which is unknown]
