SOUTH AUSTRALIA - Postal History
1862 entire to "Nuccaleena" with Rouletted 1d SG 19 horizontal pair (a couple of faults), Port Augusta cds, postmaster's manuscript endorsement "PO/Blinman/Nov 21 1862" on the reverse, unclaimed & returned via 'KANYAKA' (b/s) to the GPO (b/s) where presumably the 'UNCLAIMED' h/s was applied.
VICTORIA - Postmarks
BARRED NUMERALS: '541' & the rare 'PORCUPINE FLAT' cds (LRD of only two recorded strikes) largely very fine strikes on 1893 cover to Maldon. Rated RR.

Collection on Swans extensively written up on pages by Region including 'BARRAMBIE', 'BEDFORDALE', 'BROWN HILL', 'BUCHANAN', 'COONGAN', 'EULAMINNA', 'GABANINTHA', 'GEORGINA', 'GOLDEN RIDGE', 'HAMELIN POOL', 'HANNANS', 'KULYALING', 'KURNALPI', oval 'POST OFFICE/MARBLE BAR' x3 on 3d block of 9, oval 'POST & TELEGRAPH OFFICE/MURRIN MURRIN', undated 'POST OFFICE/NANGEENAN', 'PALACE HOTEL', 'ROEBUCK BAY', 'SMITHS MILL', 'STAKE WELL', 'THE GRANITES', 'TURKEY CREEK', 'WANNAMAL', 'WARRAWOONA' x2, 'WESTBROOK', 'WOOLGAR' x2, etc, also Savings Bank types from Broome Hill, Greenough, Kojonup, Moora (violet), Pingelly, Waroona, Yalgoo, etc, plus a few TPOs, Letter & Numeral cancels, quality of the strikes is variable but many are fine to very fine.
Anaconda: 'ANACONDA/OC7/03/W.A' 21mm cds bold, slightly smudged strike on 2d Swan. PO 18.08.1903; renamed Eulaminna 15.10.1906. PMI records type but gives no dates of usage. [Copper mining]
Collie: 'MONEY ORDER OFFICE/10SEP00/COLLIE, W.A.' 32x20mm double-boxed d/s in violet on 2d Swan pair. Renamed from Collie Fields 27.10.1899. Unrecorded in PMI. [Coal mining; 48km E of Bunbury]
Lake View: 'LAKE VIEW/--18/04/WA' 21mm cds on 1d with 'WA' puncture. Renamed from Trafalgar (1) 02.1904; renamed Trafalgar (2) c.1905. Recorded March-May 1904 only. PMI gives the official renaming as 1909 but notes archival reference to "Trafalgar" from 01.1905 and datestamps inscribed 'TRAFALGAR' in use from 1906 onwards. [Goldmining]
Mount Sir Samuel (1): 'SAVINGS BANK/OC24/05/MT SIR SAMUEL' 21mm cds two light but fine part-overlapping strikes on 1d Swan pair on piece. Opened as RO 1897; to PO 1.10.1900; reduced to RO 29.06.1917; closed 1.7.1930. PMI records only one partial strike of the same date. [Goldmining]

1862 London London Stereoscopic Company promotional cards (100x62mm) 'The Nave, from Eastern Dome', 'The Nave, Looking Towards West Dome' & 'Case of Australian Gold and Gold Washing Apparatus', a few insignificant blemishes still remarkably fine. Rare: not seen before by us. (3)
CHRISTMAS ISLAND - Postal History
1959-64 Australian Postal Agency 1963 airmail usage of 30c Registration Envelope to Nyasaland via Sydney (!) with Pictorials 4c Flower, 6c Palms & 10c Crane tied by #1 cds, 'LILONGWE (1)' transit & 'KASUNGU' arrival b/s. A remarkable origin/destination cover.

1932-34 Undated Birds 2d 3d 5d 6d & 2/- to £1, 1939 Bulolo 5d & £1, all in horizontal pairs, Cat £760+.
1939 Bulolo Airs 4d 5d and 1/- to £1 SG 217 218 & 221-5 blocks of 4, some minor staining/aging consistent with having been removed from bullion tags, all with 'BULOLO' cds of various dates, Cat £3400+ as single sets. Used blocks are rare.

1935 (Mar 15) gold bullion parcel tag with rare and remarkable franking of Undated Airs 3d, 2/- marginal pair, 5/- & £1 block of 6 (the fourth unit damaged when affixed; the right-hand block of 4 is very fine) affixed to both sides & tied by 'WAU' cds. Ex Tom Frommer: acquired at Mossgreen on 4.4.2017 for $1800.
1935 (Nov 18) gold bullion parcel tag with rare and remarkable franking of Silver Jubilee 1d, Undated Airs 5/- & Bulolo £5 emerald tied by 'WAU' cds, registration cachet on the reverse, remarkably fine for such an item. Ex Tom Frommer: acquired at Mossgreen on 4.4.2017 for $3840. [The rate was 2d per 1oz letter rate x157 + 3d per ½oz airmail surcharge x314 + 3d registration + 2d late fee for registered articles = £5/5/1d. The only other £5 franking known to us is a similar large-part tag franked £5/4/3d Ex Ken Kutz, the current whereabouts of which is unknown]
1939 (Jan 13) commercial "all-up" airmail cover to Germany with Undated Birds 1/- & Undated Airs 9d tied by 'WAU' cds, transit b/s of 'SALAMAUA' & 'TOWNSVILLE' (where it connected with the Qantas service to Europe).

1938 (Nov 5) Gold Mines of Papua gold bullion parcel tag to Sydney with rare and remarkable franking of Pictorials 9d Archer, 5/- Policeman (surface abrasion) & £1 Delta House tied by double-circle 'POST OFFICE/NOV/5/1938/ BWAGAOIA, PAPUA' rubber cds, red & black/white registration label below, minor blemishes. Extremely desirable & rare: the only commercial article franked with the £1 known to us. Ex Tom Frommer: sold at Mossgreen on 4.4.2017 for $2280. [The rate was 2d per 1oz letter rate x38 + 3d per ½oz airmail surcharge x76 + 3d registration + 2d late fee for registered articles = £1/5/9d]
