JAPANESE OCCUPATION: 1943 Malayan Postal Union Postage Dues 4c green with vertical Type 2 Overprint SG JD36 marginal block of 10, couple of minor gum spots, unmounted, Cat £650+.
NORTH BORNEO: 1947 Cypher Overprints $5 vertical strip of 4, the third unit with Lower Bar Broken at Right SG 349a [R8/3], very minor toning as is often seen on this issue, unmounted, Cat £470+.
NEW GUINEA - "N.W./PACIFIC/ISLANDS" Overprints
1918 large cover endorsed "OHMS" with 'THE TREASURY/RABAUL' oval cachet in violet at L/L, to Melbourne with NWPI 9d Roo tied by 'RABAUL/12JL18' cds & German-type 'Rabaul/(Deutsch-Neuguinea)' registration label affixed alongside Sydney transit & Melbourne '13AU18' arrival b/s, a bit travel-weary. Scarce commercial multiple-rate single franking. [The rate was 1d per ounce x9]
1920 Rev Foster cover to GB with 1d red ab pair & c single, black/white Rabaul registration label, underpaid but not taxed; also Samoa registered cover with Overprints to 3d, soiled.
1921 usage of real photo PPC '45 Jap Town' to NSW with the social message entirely in Japanese, NWPI ½d pair with Rabaul cds, significant corner crease.

1934 OHMS cover airmail Salamaua-Melbourne "Per Faith in Australia" with Undated Birds 'OS' 2d & 4d strip of 3, octagonal '.../FIRST OFFICIAL/AIR MAIL' cachet in violet and Melbourne '-1AU34' arrival b/s, couple of minor blemishes. Commercial mail carried on first flight and scarce thus. [2d letter rate + 6d airmail surcharge x2]
1935 (Mar 15) gold bullion parcel tag with rare and remarkable franking of Undated Airs 3d, 2/- marginal pair, 5/- & £1 block of 6 (the fourth unit damaged when affixed; the right-hand block of 4 is very fine) affixed to both sides & tied by 'WAU' cds. Ex Tom Frommer: acquired at Mossgreen on 4.4.2017 for $1800.
1935 (Nov 18) gold bullion parcel tag with rare and remarkable franking of Silver Jubilee 1d, Undated Airs 5/- & Bulolo £5 emerald tied by 'WAU' cds, registration cachet on the reverse, remarkably fine for such an item. Ex Tom Frommer: acquired at Mossgreen on 4.4.2017 for $3840. [The rate was 2d per 1oz letter rate x157 + 3d per ½oz airmail surcharge x314 + 3d registration + 2d late fee for registered articles = £5/5/1d. The only other £5 franking known to us is a similar large-part tag franked £5/4/3d Ex Ken Kutz, the current whereabouts of which is unknown]
1939 (Jan 13) commercial "all-up" airmail cover to Germany with Undated Birds 1/- & Undated Airs 9d tied by 'WAU' cds, transit b/s of 'SALAMAUA' & 'TOWNSVILLE' (where it connected with the Qantas service to Europe).
Mint accumulation in large carton starting with a few 1898 Pictorials, KEVII & KGV Heads selection, 1920 Victory set x2, 1931 Airmails, 2d Smiling Boy (toning), 1960 Pictorials x3 sets plus extras, Official Overprints including 2/- Admiral, KGVI set x2 and 1940 Centennials, etc, then range of KGVI & QEII blocks set out on leaves with plate numbers, imprints & annotated varieties, a few Decimals also, condition variable but many fine, also Campbell Paterson catalogue & update pages. Weighs 15kg.
Collection mostly used from small group of Chalons (faults) then reasonably complete to 1940s plus some later issues, Postage Dues, Life Insurance, etc, noted QV First Sideface to 2/- (trimmed perfs), 1898 Pictorials to 5/- (fiscal) plus 6d, 2/- & 5/- 'OFFICIAL' overprints, Christchurch Exhibition set *, KGV 'OFFICIAL' overprints set, 2/- Admiral 'OFFICIAL' *, Smiling Boys pair *, then Postal Fiscals including 7/6d 9/- 30/- & £4 with postal cancels (plus other fiscals), also KEVII Land 1d used and Victoria Land 1d mint, condition mixed but many fine.
Large accumulation in two cartons predominantly used from QV Sidefaces with some Adverts, 1898 Pictorials, KEVII & KGV Heads, Arms Fiscals, etc, in various albums and stockbooks plus quantity in envelopes, potential postmark interest, also range of Dependencies including Aitutaki, Cook Islands, Niue, Penrhyn with early overprints selections noted QV Long Types 2/- 2/6d & 10/- 'NIUE' overprints *, condition variable. Weighs 23kg.
1969-96 Decimal Errors including Colour Shifts, Double Prints, 1977 Health 7c+2c with Misplaced Perfs, '4c' on 2½c Moth with Misplaced Surcharge, etc, also 1973 Westport Centennial 4c corner block of 10 with Over-Inking affecting all units & Largely Obliterating 'New Zealand' on Four Units, unmounted.
