Box of mostly pre-WWII loose stamps & pieces many from parcels & with several incomplete 'PARCELS POST' labels one of 1913 with First Wmk 1/- Roo (weep!!), other pieces noted with 6d Engraved & probably First Wmk 2/- Roo (weep again!), lots of KGV Penny Reds, etc. This material has never before been on the market. We expect it is completely unpicked for varieties and postmarks. [See also Lot 368]

Predominantly used array on Seven Seas pages plus 64-page stockbook with Kangaroos to 10/-, KGV Heads, lots of Pre-Decimal Commemoratives noted 9d Macarthur, 1/- ANZAC & £1 Navigator blocks of 4 commercially used, some Postage Dues, 'OS' overprints, BCOF including 1/- Lyrebird blocks of 8 & 10 with 'ARMY PO' cancels, also Decimals to 1980s, plus some Colonies noted South Australia with range of 'OS' overprints, etc, potential postmark interest, condition variable but many fine. Weighs 18kg.
Used accumulation from Colonies/States noted NSW Consumptive Homes pair * (toned), Kangaroos & KGV Heads including a few *, Pre-Decimals with some imprint blocks, part-sheets, etc, noted Airmail 3d punctured 'OS' plate '4' pair ** (light gum bends), plus quantity loose in envelopes including a few Revenues, postmark interest, condition variable. Weighs 6kgs.

Scarce group comprising 'OS'-of-Dots Kangaroo 1d x2 (one uprated, the other taxed) & KGV 1d red uprated, Solid 'OS' Sideface 1½d brown, Star with 'POSTAGE' 2d scarlet x2, 1½d green & 1½d red (unused), 'TWO/PENCE' on 1½d red x2 (one unused), KGV Oval 2d x2, the earlier issues mostly for the Victorian Education Department, condition variable, Cat $2250.
1919 1d red Die I ('OS'-of-dots) + ½d green (solid 'OS') ACSC #EO5 on grey stock for Deputy Commissioner of Maternity Allowances, Melbourne War Savings Certificates slogan cancel of 9DE/1919. Superb! [John Sinfield's equally fine example sold at the Prestige auction of 20.11.2004 for $1380]

Victorian municipal users comprising 1d Roo for Shire of Charlton (a little aged; with enclosure), Star 1d for Shire of East Loddon, 1½d black-brown for City of Prahran (soiled), 1½d brown Die 2 for Shire of Marong (address erased) & Die 3 for Shire of Minhamite, Star with 'POSTAGE' 1d violet (unusually pale shade) for Shire of Minhamite, 2d red for Shire of Rosedale, 1d green for Shire of Heytesbury (opened-out) & 'THREE/HALFPENCE' on 2d red for Shire of Heidelberg (small fault), KGV Oval 1d for City of Mordialloc & 2d for Borough of Shepparton, KGVI 1d for Shire of Colac (unused) & 4c for City of Box Hill (unused); also KGVI 1½d green Postal Card for Shire of Eltham (superb unused). Scarce group.
1916-22 Star without 'POSTAGE' 1d red Die I + Sideface ½d green ACSC #ES36 uprated with ½d green & 2d orange tied by 'ARARAT/2FE22/VIC' to Adelaide, small stain between the two impressions, Cat $3000. Rare. [The ACSC states that one unused and four used examples are recorded & that the total printing of ES16 & 36 combined was a mere 150 envelopes]
1916-22 Star without 'POSTAGE' 1½d brown Die 3 ACSC #ES49 for Melbourne & Metropolitan Board of Works with the Embossing Misplaced on an Angle, 'FINISH THE JOB/BUY PEACE BONDS' slogan cancel.
1928-37 KGV Oval 1d+1d ACSC #ES66 for Edward Dyason & Co, used at Melbourne in 1936, irregular opening & flap removed at left, Cat $1000. Unrecorded user.

1923 1Â½d Green Perf 12½ ACSC #LC51 'SPRING ST MELB' (tram & horse-drawn buggy), to Arkansas (rare destination) with 1½d green tied by Sydney cds of 3OC23, minor discolouration, Cat $500. The earliest recorded date of usage of the 1½d green cards. [The ACSC states the ERD is 10.10.1923]

OFFICIAL: 1913 Kangaroo 1d with 'OS' of Dots-in-the-Die ACSC #LSO1 being a printed truancy notice for the Victorian Education Department, 'ARARAT/13JL14/VIC' cds, minor blemishes, Cat $1500. Rare & the earliest recorded date for a CofA official lettersheet. [The ACSC states "The printer's imprint inside...indicates the original printing was made in 1916, and the ERD of use is 23 March 1916". The printer's imprint on this example is '7.13' & the usage is 20 months earlier]
