TRAVELLING POST OFFICES: '376 MILE E.W.RLY/3SP18/S.A' largely very fine strike on Third Wmk 1/- (surface abrasion). Rare. PO 19.9.1916; closed -.5.1918. [Either the closing date is incorrect or the office re-opened. We have also recorded usage on 16SP18]






Mint collection on Minkus pages with Kangaroos including Third Wmk 9d Harrison Imprint pair plus punctured 'OS' 6d blue and 5/- & 10/- (both CTO), SMult 1/- Ash Imprint pair, KGV Heads mint to 1/4d x4 including 4d lemon & a few varieties, Engraved 6d Kooka & 3d M/S, 1/- Large Lyrebird, Vic Centenary ANZAC & Jubilee sets, 'OS' Overprints apparently complete (no certificates for the Kingsford Smith duo), later issues virtually complete unmounted - no 5/- Cattle on White Paper - including Robes both papers, BCOF set with both 5/-, Arms & Navigators 'SPECIMEN' sets, also some Postage Dues, generally fine to very fine. Archival collection on hingeless pages with Kangaroos CTO including First Wmk to 2 (no 2/-; the 2 with a light bend) mostly with the 'MELBOURNE/ 24 /VIC' cds, Third Wmk 1 grey & punctured 'OS' to 2 (small thin), various KGV Issues, Postage Dues overprinted 'SPECIMEN' 1902 Blank Tablet (the 5/- without overprint) and 1902-04 set to 20/- plus CTO Bicolours to 1 (no gum) & a few others; also an array of 1940s to 1990s issues missing many of the better items, generally very fine. Ex Belgian Post Office Archives. [The stamps were originally mounted and there are some hinge remainders, minor black adhesions from the old pages & the occasional fault from the remounting process] (Qty 100s)





Pre-decimal accumulation mostly used with range of Kangaroos x300+ noted 4d small 'OS' x2, 5/- Third Wmk x8 & 5/- CofA Wmk x11, quantity of KGV Heads with values to 1/4d plus packets & some on piece, later issues noted 2 Arms, 1 Navigators x2, etc, a few mint & some Colonies also, plenty of official punctures including 'OS/NSW' & 'G/NSW', commercial perfins, potential postmark interest, condition variable. Collection on clear pages with Kangaroos including First Wmk to 10/- plus a regummed & reperforated 2, Second Wmk set, Third Wmk to 10/- + 1 grey (2, one punctured 'OS', CTO), SMult Wmk to 10/- & CofA Wmk to 1, KGV all watermarks apparently complete, Kookaburra M/S (fragile but **), 5/- Bridge, later unmounted including Vic Centenary both perfs, Macarthur, ANZAC & Jubilee sets, KGVI 3d blues, Robes Thick Paper x2 sets, Arms, QEII issues complete including 5/- Cattle White Paper & Navigators set of 8, KGVI-QEII Coil Pairs complete, etc, also a mounted BCOF set, condition variable in the Roos & KGV Heads otherwise generally very fine. Two cartons containing collections in albums and stockbooks, some Colonies, Kangaroos, KGV Heads, other pre-decimals and Decimal duplicates, appears to be mostly pedestrian, however noted huge 1937 Cycling label (faults) signed "Hubert Opperman", condition very mixed. Weighs 27kg. (Qty many 100s)





Two volume collection with many better items including Kangaroos 10/- Large 'OS' (perf faults; no certificate), SMult Wmk 10/- x2 (one with telegraph puncture), CofA Wmk 1 & 2 x2 (one reperforated, the other with amateurish repair), KGV including 4d lemon x3 (one with the Watermark Inverted) & 4d orange Line through 'FOUR PENCE', 5/- Bridge commercially used (much scarcer than CTO or mint), ANZAC 1/- strip of 3, Thin Paper Robes, sd Navigators, Decimals with booklet panes & 1971 Christmas block of 25, then apparently complete to 1999 mostly with Australia Post's printed cancels but including 41c Cycling booklet pair Imperf Between CTO and self-adhesive Wallaby Miscut with 'AUSTRALIA 45c' Omitted on commercial piece. The first volume also includes a large number of blocks - most notably Robes imprints - with fake cancels. Caveat emptor! (Qty Qty)





Collection in Seven Seas hingeless album with Kangaroos including First Wmk to 5/- (ex 6d & 9d, the 3d & 4d are very fine unmounted) + 10/- & 2 'Specimen', Third Wmk to 2/- brown + extra 6d blue & 9d also 'SPECIMEN' 10/-, 1 brown & blue x2, 1 grey & 2, SMult Wmk 'SPECIMEN' 10/- very fine * & 2 no gum; KGV Heads largely complete simplified with Single Wmk to 1/4d including Rough Paper 1d red Die II punctured 'OS' ** & 4d lemon very lightly mounted, CofA Wmk to 1/4d, and 'OS' overprints, etc; other Pre-decimals largely complete including 1/- Large Lyrebird ** (superb), KSmith 'OS' pair CTO, 5/- Bridge, KGVI 3d blue Dies (Die Ia is incorrect), BCOF set to Thick Paper 5/- unusually well centred, Robes Thick Paper set **, Arms **, White Paper Cattle very lightly mounted & Navigators set of 6 **, etc; the pre-WWII issues need to be closely checked for quality, providing the opportunity to continue upgrading. [This lot also includes a little surprise packet of Australian Colonies] (Qty 100s)





Kangaroos with First Wmk 2d 2d 3d & 5d (a little aged) all unmounted, Second Wmk 2d unmounted, lots of mostly minor used varieties but including Third Wmk 5/- ACSC #44(D)va & CofA 5/- #46(V)s, also some 'OS' punctures, then an array of KGV Heads, condition variable but generally fine to very. Mint & used accumulation including a few Kangaroos & KGV Heads, KGV Commemoratives with some imprint blocks, 5/- Bridge CTO, later pre-decimals with blocks & part-sheets plus quantity used, a few 'OS' overprints & punctures, commercial perfins, some postmark interest, condition generally fine. Album of Official Punctures with Kangaroos including a few Large 'OS' notably 2d grey block of 4, Small 'OS' First Wmk 2d, Second Wmk 2d 6d & 1/-, Third Wmk 3d block of 4, 6d blue shades x11 including Double 'OS' & Dry Ink strip of 3 (stained), 9d x8, 1/- x11 including a block of 4, SMult Wmk 6d blocks of 4 x2, 'OS/NSW' group including SMult Wmk 6d block of 4; KGV Heads good range to 1/4d x2 including three pages of 1d red shades, 2d brown Mullett imprint pair, 4d lemon x3, 4d blue x4 & 4d violet, etc; and 'OS' Overprints including 6d Air Mail unmounted imprint strip of 3, 6d Roo x3 & 1/- Large Lyrebird x6 including a block of 4 (one unit **), etc; some varieties noted, condition a bit variable but much is fine to very fine. Stockbook with some better mint material including Kangaroos First Wmk 2d pair & block of 8, 5d & 6d, Large 'OS' 6d x2 (one is superb!), Small 'OS' 2/- with the Wmk Misplaced like a Second Wmk 2/- (FU), Second Wmk 6d & superb used 1/-, Third Wmk to 10/- including 5/- with the Watermark Inverted, punctured 'OS' group with 6d blue x3, 9d x3 & 1/- x3 and 'SPECIMEN' Type B 10/- & Type C 2 x2, CofA 5/-; KGV with a page of Penny Reds, 4d lemon, 4d violet x11 including a block of 4, 4d blue x2, etc, condition variable but most - including those mentioned - appear to be fine to very fine. Neat little collection to 1960 with a few Roos including First Wmk 6d mint, Second Wmk 2/- used x2 and Third Wmk 2/- brown used, KGV mint including 4d orange x2, 4d violet, 1d green Die II and CofA Wmk set, and used including 1d Die III x2, 4d lemon x2, SMult Wmk Perf 14 to 1/4d, Vic Centenary both perfs to SA Centenary complete mint & used, etc, generally very fine. Accumulation in 17 albums with a few Colonies noted Tasmania 4d Courier (4 margins; bit grubby), Kangaroos including inverted wmk d & 1d x2 used, KGV Heads pages with annotated varieties, Pre-Decimal including 1 Robes used x2 (one 'G/NSW' puncture), postmark interest, then Decimals mint & used with modern often mounted but some **, M/S, AAT & Territories, etc, condition variable. Mostly postally used group with some attractive First Wmk stamps including 1d with Sideways Watermark mint (small faults) & a few CTO, Second Wmk well centred mint 2/-, Third Wmk 2/- brown x8, 5/- x5 & 10/- x4 incuding a pair, generally fine, completely unchecked by us for varieties but we stumbled across the mint 1d with Sideways Watermark and when we pulled out the Ten Bobs one was found to have Inverted Watermark: see Lot 1173. Stockbook housing a rather untidy array with many better stamps noted including First Wmk d No Monogram block of 8 (minor bends, unmounted, Cat $1250), d Large 'OS' used block of 8, 2/- VFU x3 (one Small 'OS'); Third Wmk 2d two mint blocks of 4 & Harrison One Line Imprint pair (Cat $2000), 3d mint block of 4, 6d blue 'CA' Monogram single (reinforced, Cat $3000), 6d blue punctured 'OS', 6d brown imprint block of 4, 1/- strip of 4 (poorly centred but **), 2/- maroon Mullett Imprint pair (Cat $1000), 5/- punctured 'OS' with slightly Misplaced Roo (parcel cancel), 'SPECIMEN' Type B 10/- & 2 x4 (one **) and Type C 1 grey x2 & 2 x3; SMult Wmk 6d imprint block of 4 & used 2 of superb appearance but with a tiny thin; CofA Wmk 1 mint (**) & used x2 and 2 used; etc etc, condition rather variable so careful inspection is recommended.
